nbc 10 jersey shore bureau reporter ted greenberg is live in cape may. there's already a significant coating on the ground. ted? >> reporter: yeah, rosemary. it hasn't taken very long, at all, for the snow to start piling up here. in about the past hour, this is how much has accumulated on the car. it's so cold it's basically sticking to most surfaces in is the parking lot here outside congress hall, which is a historic hotel here. it hasn't had any trouble sticking to the ground here. this is just in the past hour. very, very light, fluffy snow. it comes down and hits almost everything it hits. you can see the snow swirling around that flag pole here outside congress hall. the snow has been picking up in intensity, as well, since we first started seeing it fall around 5:15 this morning. take a look out here toward beach avenue. that, we're thinking, is pretreated. it's having a little bit of a tougher time sticking there. the sidewalks are covered with snow and the edges of the street are covered, as well. i've been been checking with officials with cape

that's where nbc 10 ted between bu greenberg is live this morning. already seeing the flakes falling. >> reporter: yeah. the conditions have changed since about a half hour ago at the top of the 5:00 hour. you can see the snow is now coming down. we saw a few flakes at first then it started becoming heavier. you take a look along beach avenue. the snow started -- we started seeing it come down like this about 15 minutes ago it's going to be getting heavier and heavier, also, visibilities will be dropping as the wind kicks the snow up. look at the video we shot. digital signs on the parkway are urging drivers the garden state parkway to use caution today because of the storm. we found cape may county road crews gearing up for the snow yesterday. they were loading up their trucks with salt and making sure all of their machinery is working properly. the jersey shore, as you know, barely got any snow round one late thursday night and early friday morning. officials say the small system gave crews a chance to work out the kinks before the much bigger snow

ted greenberg is live along back bays in west wildwood, ted? >> reporter: rosemary and tracey, wind going to be the biggest part of this storm. see what's happening. the wind is blowing the bay basically over this wall. you can see just how rough it is. it's crashing over this bulk head and spilling here into the street. this is some of the minor tidal flooding we are seeing here at high tide along the coast, especially along the back bays. you can see it's covering part of the street here. take a look at video we shot earlier today where we started our morning right along the beach in north wildwood and you can see just how big those waves are, how angry that ocean is, that is the result of the winds coming right off the ocean from the nor'easter and slamming the water into the coastline and you can understand why we are expecting significant potentially beach erosion from this storm because of those waves. again, the waves are coming here over the wall into the street other the sidewalk here in west wildwood. this is the first high tide we ar

i'm ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. >>> meantime philadelphia police have a suspect back in custody aftere escaped while wearing handcuffs after attacking an off duty state trooper. the officers caught him again just before 9:30. here's what we know. police say the whole thing started when a car hit a philly police cruiser on roosevelt boulevard. the driver tried to get away hitting a state trooper's car just after 5:30 this morning. the trooper got out, that's when police say one of the men in the car attacked him. police officer arrested the suspect, but the man managed to escape the patrol car while wearing handcuffs. and he was recaptured hours later. police would like to talk to two other men who were in the car are with the suspect. >>> now taking a look at the other headlines we're following, police investigating several shootings that happened in a matter of hours overnight. nine people in all were shot. six separate incidents. two of the victims died. investigators blamed the spike on the warm weather saying it brought more people outside. >>> and monsignor william lynn is back i

i'm ted greenberg. it's 10:00 a.m. on this sunday morning. thank you for being with us. we'll check with our breaking news in a moment. first we go to first alert meteorologist krystal klei with the most accurate neighborhood forecast. a little snow heading our way, but not for today. >> today is the cloudy day ahead of the storm. we're looking at clouds starting to build in, temperatures chilly. it picks up nicely over the last couple hours, 38 in philadelphia, 39 in northeast philly. still in the 20s for mt. pocono. 36 in allentown. n wildwood at 41 degrees. we'll see temperatures that hang around the low to mid 40s. we don't see a ton of temperatures for the rest of the day. we are noticing in comparison to tomorrow, this is a nicer day. returns on radar trying to give us a few flames near mercer county and burlington county. the lake effect tail end still near us today. tomorrow will be an actual system that passes through which means we'll have the possibility of accumulating snow. philly is looking at a much lower potential. midnight tonight is when everything star

in toms river, i'm ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. >>> a high school student in the lehigh valley is facing charges of cyber harassment and ethnic intimidation for posting a racist snapchat video that led to a fistfight. the 14-year-old white student at saucon valley high school harassed a 16-year-old black student calling the teenager the n-word and joking he was on welfare and posting that video on snapchat and that video led to a fight. initially only a black student was charged with assault. but today the district attorney announced the white student would also face charges of ethnic intimidation. >> harassment whether based on race or whatever is a crime. >> one student threw a confederate flag at him. there were other slurs. >> families at the school say black students have felt hara harassed for months. this sends a message that it will not be tolerated. >>> three high school football players accused of hazing pleaded guilty today in chester county. the conestoga high school students admitted to a lesser charge before the trial began. they were accused of sexually assaulting a player
