we talked a lot last november, through the board process about economic benefits of the america's cup to the port and the city. we believe the 34th america's cup will bring to the port of san francisco and the san francisco bay a world-class venue for sailing well beyond the event. i mentioned a little about public access on the waterfront. we will be accelerating major public benefits, not just in the area of the piers, but as far down as pier 80 and beyond the port property. major port infrastructure upgrades, we have not contemplated a plan in either the capital plan or the waterfront land-use plan for fixing pier 30-32. we're getting the benefit of those upgrades. the tenants, we are very mindful of any impact on the tenants that would be displaced in the process. you should be proud of the real- estate division's efforts to do outreach to all of the tenants trying to make a concession easy for them, but there are many will see major benefits as a result of having the america's cup, both retail and maritime. we talked a lot about environmental stewardship. that has been a major th

this is being looked at as one of the legacy project for the america's cup. an entire acre would be developed and ordered by third, supervisor chu:, illinois. it has a great place to do a piece of public art at the corner that could span both sides of the street. there would be an entryway to the bay view area. something that does. regarding pier 27 where the america's cup village will be located. for the america's cup, we will be building -- following the event, the poor will construct phase 2 of the terminal which will finish the building and hopefully construct public spaces which will include a two and a half acre park and plaza along the embarcadero. esparta the terminal. which would occur as part of phase two construction. it is inevitable rush to get the show constructed during -- one a become certified. and before it approves the project. also the port does not have funds to complete is face to at this time. there has to be a closing of the gap of those funds for that to happen. the poor does not have funding available for the public which makes major

the ceqa findings covers all of the implementation plans for the america's cup. there summarized and included within the eir. even though they are evolving, they are living documents each that will incorporate best practices. among those, they will respond to the performance requirements and all the mitigation measures you are proving as part of these actions. those are covered. with respect to the national park service and the national environmental protection act, the environment and review process, the ceqa equivalent they have to go through, that is ongoing and will be flowing through the documents in the spring. they have similar but somewhat different standards for their review. that information from the eir that is common to what needs to get covered gets picked up, and additional changes according to their interpretation of nepa will play out in those documents. for your purposes today, you are using the final eir as the basis of your action, and i have been advised by the city attorney that i do not need to walk you through all of these revisions. they ar

just to give everybody a little context, the schedule of america's cup events fault -- calls for two types of events. in 2012, the world series events, august 11th through the 19th and august 27th through september 2nd. this is a traveling exhibition of races the america's cup authority and race management are going to run the world, racing is smaller craft, 45 foot catamarans. they show up and it's a traveling road show with a common have wonderful events and an event village they create an race the boats near the shores of people can get a good sense of what their races are like and it's a great way to raise the profile of america's cup. we are excited to have them. ultimately, for the 2013 events, they will be building at america's cup buildings on peer's 27 and at 29, but that will not be complete in advance. in 2013, the full america's cup event will come here and that runs from july through september, so three long months. this is the from the bay conservation submission package that it shows a rendering of what we think the america's cup village is going to look at -- going to

>> hearing on the city's plans for the cultural program during america's cup. supervisor mar: this hearing has been called to emphasize the huge opportunity that san francisco benefits from the america's cup that comes to us in 2012 through 2013 and is a huge opportunity for the locally based artists. the cultural program connected to the event will hopefully allow strong involvement from these arts groups. it is important to understand how cultural programming can deliver on the promise of up to 200,000 attendees at day. $1 billion in economic benefits according to the economic reports projection for the event. i'm also interested in finding out how the major financial boom will impact the neighborhood. the three districts included in the report, and the other districts that may be further away. we would like to know how the plan includes the local arts community in programming and other activity, including individual artists. i wanted to thank mike martin from the economic work force development office. thank you for coming to present on the item. i know how h
