it has been battering the bahamas. for those folks there, they've seen tons of rain and very strong winds. it is finally pulling away to the north and east. by late sunday night into first thing monday, it's a category 1 hurricane. it makes its closest path to us basically overnight monday night into first thing tuesday as a category 1. it is way far out to sea, which is great news for the east coast. now closer to home, this morning, we are talking about some showers. very light in nature. but still the clouds and the winds are hanging around today. as we go through the morning hours, notice that the showers become less numerous. through the day today, it's not a complete washout like yesterday. a lot of areas will stay dry. we'll just hang over the clouds and some light, spotty showers through the afternoon. the other thing that is happening today is those temperatures already only in the 40's and 50's. and that is where they're going to stay through the afternoon. see more sunshine. that's all ahead in my seven-day f

right now joaquin is baring down on the bahamas. n is separate from the storm bringing us wind and rain over the next two days. >> sheena parveen is back tow with the latest on its tracks. sheena? >> we've seen a change today compared to yesterday and what the computer models were showing us yesterday. a lot were green yesterday moving inland, south of us, but today we have quite a difference. i'll show you that and explain it in a second. right now the hurricane around the bahamas, been sitting over the bahamas for the last few days and with the warm water temperatures and little movement, favorable atmospheric conditions strengthened to a category 4. winds 130 miles an hour, it's moving to the southwest, so technically it's moving away from us but eventually will take the north turn and that would start to bring it up into the atlantic, so as of sunday morning 8:00 a.m., the more current updated track for the storm puts it as a category 2 off the south carolina coast and then the difference with today's track compared to yesterday,

this thing is trending eastward in the projections, but right now still stuck over the bahamas. this is a category 4 hurricane. winds 130 miles per hour, just sitting and battering the central bahamas. by later this evening, it will start to shift north away from the bahamas, and look at this new forecast track from the hurricane center. all the models started shifting eastward yesterday. now the hurricane center is thinking this is going to stay offshore and u.s. landfall not expected with hurricane joaquin. we'll keep you posted on that. in the meantime, you need an umbrella out the door here on the south shore and the cape. lighter rain right now. that rain is going to slowly pivot northward with highs today. we also have that northeasterly wind, and it is quite gusty along the coastline. gusting over 30 miles per hour. throughout the day on the cape and the islands, the winds could hour. wind advisories staying up this morning. we are once again concerned with the high tide this afternoon. could be minor coastal flooding during the afternoon hours. look at the temperatures. l

it's a big one meandering through the bahamas. that's why the track once it gets out of here is a little malleable. as we continue over the next couple of days, plenty of watches and warnings here because we still deal with it in this region at least for the next 24 hours before it starts to get a little bit more movement. we have different computer models that ingest all the data and predict where the storms go. more of them now saying once this is picked up by the syrian flow it will steer out to sea. a couple outliers bring it to the united states, but more consistently looks like it stays away. even if that happens, close enough we could have high winds, coastal flooding and some of the moisture adding to what we already have. we still need to monitor this very closely. i mentioned the moisture we already have. here is that long, broad front that john henry was talking about, especially with a low developing on the southern end of that, places like the carolinas are in for a lot of rain the next new days. back to you. >> thank
