in at today's a good day for narcotics law enforcement in the bay area. we've successfully put a hurting to the cartel. >> reporter: the dose is our equivalent of 80 million doses of meth, more than enough for the seven and half million bay area residents. >> problems from cocaine and methamphetamine and heroin, all of these illegal substances are descending on our community in shocking amounts. >> reporter: part of a two-year investigator, operation thunder gun led to multiple seizures across the bay area. the vast majority of narcotics, coming from mexico's cartel, using entry points into calexico, california, including the trafficking of grenade launchers, sniper rifles and other illegal firearms. >> it depicts the scale of how massive the amounts of drugs and firearms were being pushed through out communities and traffic in our streets. >> reporter: federal authorities charged 44 people, mostly from the south bay and peninsula, accusing them of trafficking not called from mexico and onto bay area streets. using wiretaps and cell phone location warrants

morning temperatures in the 40s for most of the bay area. ceptions in the north bay with upper 30s to start off tomorrow morning and the high temperatures tomorrow starting a downward trend. sun at times and mix of high clouds. upper 50s near san francisco and 60 oakland and low 60s in the north bay. cooler changes on the way but tuesday now we thought we might see a chance of showers. not so much. that particular storm looks like it will fall apart but still on the way thursday afternoon into friday that looks like a better chance of seeing some rain probably lingering into the first half of friday and into next weekend, probably the best storm in the series next saturday second half of the weekend right now trending a little dry. so mainly taking into consideration thursday through next saturday. sonoma county, some of the higher peaks there might see one to two inches and for the valleys less than a half inch of rain south of san francisco. so we slowly walk our way back into february-like weather for the second half out week still expecti

will see the first batch moving in early tomorrow morning into the north bay in the pre-sunrise hours that will spread across the bay area, scattered activity, kind of weakening as it drops to the south around sunrise and then by about 10:00 to noon we are going to be done. the rest of the afternoon will be clearing out, still breezy, even when dear the other conditions we had today so keep that in mind for any outdoor plans. not the day you want to do anything on a ladder because the wind will be gusting up over 30 miles an hour. the next round of rain will be trying to move in already showers into the north bay by sunday evening but the bulk of that will stick to the north. there is the additional snow for the sierra. the next round moves in, potentially already sunday night during the overnight hours when most of us are sleeping, with scattered showers to start the day on monday, and still possible through the rest of presidents' day as well. that also will be light, but on the order of the 10th of an inch to maybe a quarter inch of additional rainfall so a little heavier than what we will pick up on on saturday. high

the north bay. as we head through the afternoon, the winds will start to pick up and plan on that rain dropping out of the north bay and pushing through the bay areammute. we keep saying right around this time tomorrow. you notice the morning not too bad. 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, there's the main event passing through. still an impact for the south bay for the tuesday morning commute. by tuesday afternoon that storm starts to head off and move to the sierra. rain projections still pretty impressive, but not to the level we saw last week. especially where the santa cruz mountains are concerned. we have an atmospheic river that kind of stalled out. this one mainly a 24-hour event. maybe an inch or so around the santa cruz mountains. look at the rain shadow, fremont and san jose, you could be missing out with this storm, up to the north san francisco and oakland, about a quarter inch to 4/10 of an see numbers getting into an inch plus, some of the red could indicate some areas picking up two to three inches of rain in northern sonoma county. and the projections are still maybe two to three feet of snow across the sierra. good enough for a winter storm warni

there in the north bay as the system works its way onto the coach yeah, the night of the sky our chief meteorologist lawrence yeah here we go guys we've got another round of rain rolling in the bay area to start out your work weekend. >>here it is the showers moving in some heavier downpours begin to pick up in parts of the bay area getting in there for a closer look you can see those raindrops falling started out nice and clear this morning across a good part of the bay area by the middle of the day started to see a few clouds the wind started to pick up and now things very gray as the clouds moving in overhead look at the rain a move into parts of the bay area in for a closer look now you toward a marine boy it's coming down right now you've got all the yellow yes, some spotty patches patches of some orange here and i've seen some rain rates almost 3 quarters an inch an hour so coming down pretty heavily in some of those spots will continue to do so right to mill valley, san rafale you're seeing some of that just lighter amounts of rain. more scattered showers now pushing just to the east of petaluma and santa rosa and that will be the case to pick it up now and they also in the na
