i'm pretty sure that will keep the blue angels out of the sky. you can see why. we still have a weak disturbance rotating in behind that main area of low pressure that passed through yesterday. and as it does, we are likely going to spark up these lingering showers, also cold air being ushered in along with it, which means cooler temperatures. so showers continue tapering off later this afternoon and then, if you are waiting for sunshine, you have this area of high pressure to thank. it's going to make its way inland to the east and it gets rid of the rain and many of those clouds. temperatures will be warming up. in the meantime, temperatures today, however, still well below average. we're talking 5 to 15 degrees below average of the 58 pacifica, 64 san rafael, 63 today in napa. too cool for you? just hang in there. take a look at these numbers. so yeah, scattered showers today but warming significantly by tomorrow. we'll dry things out into the 70s. this weekend, temperatures topping out in the low 80s with plenty of sunshine. still not warm enough for you? you

will have wall-to- wall coverage including a look at the blue angels. sailors, and the coast guard to roll. >> reporter: the u.s. coast guard is the military's largest presence in the bay area with 4000 men/women based here. this is the coast guard vessel bravehear we are about to go ona mission. >> from law-enforcement, search and rescue to fisheries enforcement. etc. >> under clear skies and a mild chopped we cruised south along the waterfront. seeing brendan o'bryan looking for anything unusual. >> my job is to make sure that everything is looking good, and the visual obstruction? anything out of the ordinary. >> reporter: next, the crew practicing alongside the vessel easier said than done. >> sometimes when we're switching out crew will come alongside the boat and it is training for fishing vessels, recreational vessels dropping of sporting teams. >> reporter: last week, fleet week they found a day when surfer. >> after eight hours, nine hours, he was on his board, under a bridge in the south bay. >> the chef is making meat loaf and a moroccan style

the blue angels are the tell-tale sign that the military is in san francisco this weekend. hundreds of thousands of fans on the waterfront yesterday, >>> the blue angels is the telltale sign that the military is in town this weekend. they're showing off for fleet week. they'll be back in the air this afternoon. nearly 1 million people expected to attend this event. under the golden gate bridge into the san francisco bay, the parade of ships sailed through yesterday. one ship was used to dispose of osama bin laden's body. >>> beautiful weather for it. i think that brought even more people out today. >> what are they going to have today? >> actually, we do have to mention the other big event today is the italian heritage festival. talk about crowds. going to be crazy combined with the good weather. >> it is going to be good weather for them. that's good news. we'll see a little more cloud cover today, so maybe a little more difficult for you, but cloud cover helping to keep the temperatures lower. mostly cloudy start for the day. this afternoon temperatures pretty similar to w

it will linger and always a challenge and the blue angels are here. t we will be looking at a pretty nice afternoon with the sun coming up at 7:12 and the fog really quite dense as you head south around san louis, and also monterey and to the north. we are talking about some quarter mile visibility around santa rosa. numbers with the low clouds and fog, still on the mild side. low 50s. mid-50s, 57 in redwood city, 59 in mountain view and 54 in the livermore valley. so areas of fog this morning. we are talking about, yes, the return to a chance of showers tomorrow, favor ordering the north bay. then we still will get into a warm pattern when this system moves on out. on tuesday. here's a look at the fog product this morning. you notice it's all the way into the bay and it takes until 11:00 when it begins to pull back. by 1:00 we will have mostly sunny skies but you notice the marin coast. maybe a little fog here. expecting it to pull away for a short time right along the coast of san francisco. conditions should be fine. in terms of high temperatures to

the blue angels. they need lots of visibility to operate, and they didn't have it at game time here this afternoon, so they did a shortened show. made a few passes, and that was about it. as we look out tonight, the fog still pretty patchy. you don't see it looking across the bridges this evening. it is expected to develop and remain patchy through the night. we'll look for increasing clouds through the day tomorrow. chance of light showers as a weak cold front crosses to our north. then after that we can expect a warmer week ahead. first let's deal with the rain headed our way. taking a look at today's highs we see those mid to upper 70s in the northeast and south bay. mid to low 70s for our highs. lovely fall weather with the exception of that finker of fog that showed up about 3:30. we see most of the fog dissipated early this morning and left with us lots of sunshine, except, as mentioned, for the airshow, which was affected by that. we do see this weakening cold front moving into the area with so

the blue angels dazzled hundreds >>> the tell tail sign the military is in san francisco this weekend. the blue angels dazzled hundreds of thousands along the waterfront this afternoon. they returned for another show tomorrow. beautiful weather says jim. nearly 1 million people are expected to attend this year's fleet week events. : and under the golden gate and into the san francisco bay, the parade of ships this morning. among the many vessels from the navy was the uss carl vincent. nicknamed san francisco's own, that ship was used to dispose of osama bin laden's body in the ocean. >>> more bad news for some north bay high school students tracking salmon migration nearly 70,000 salmon. they were raising for a project are gone. earlier this week, vandals released 40,000 fish into the bay from the salmon institute. the salmon were tagged with special chips and supposed to be released at the end of the month. this morning the students discovered someone released the remaining 30,000 salmon. the students raised more than $50,000 for this project and invested a year of their time. >>> go

and that is when you can catch the blue angels make their first crack the crop--make their first practicever san francisco and the bay. the blue angels are back in the air friday afternoon fine- tuning their maneuvers from 1230 until 4:00. things really get going saturday and sunday october 8th and ninth. the parade of ships and start making their way under the golden gate bridge on the 11:00 a.m. saturday. there would travel along the northern san francisco waterfront. all eyes will be on the fleet week airshow saturday and sunday from 12:30 pm until 4:00 p.m.. and people are sure to line up to tour several naval ships docked along the bay. in october 10th there will be more ship tours and the band challenge from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at golden gate park. all ships depart on tuesday. for a complete list of all the events in times had to web site kron4.com and click on fleet week. i am grant lotus with kron4 news. despite a soggy day on the bay, the blue angels managed to get in some air time. ormed aerial maneuvers in preparation for fleet week. navy ships have already begun docking along the embarcadero. some long time fleet week fans say the site of jets overhead is really the ultimate thrill. >> it's tremendous. there's nothing else like it. and the precision that they fly and stuff, you can't see it anywhere else. >> the blue angels aren't the only times in town. the canadian snow birds and other airman you've fleets take part in the show. >>> the california public utilities commission is looking at ways to roll out that new 669 area code. the plan was approved by the santa clara county supervisors in may. they're going to use an overlay method. people signing up for new service will get a 669 phone number. existing numbers will stay the same.expected to be addedbe is expected to be added next year. >>> no cell phone calls from the cell block. governor brown signed a bill today making illegal for prison employees or others to smuggle in cell phones to inmates. if you're
