we have severe weather across the eastern plains. if you're out and about tonight we're not expecting severe weather around denver, we are still continuing to see it across the eastern plains. at this point we still have county. these storms continue to push off to the east and they will be leaving the state shortly. i just wanted to let you know that the tornado warning is in effect south of holyoke. as we zoom in closer, this is the self that had the tornado earlier to the northwest of yuma. at this point there is another storm to the south moving towards burlington. a lot of lightning and hail and the threat of frenetic activity with the storms as they these. here in denver temperatures are in the 70s and 80s it will be a nicc evening to get out in about especially to the rocky mountain showdown, temperatures in the 70s for the next few hours. a slight chance of thunderstorms, for the most part those will occur across the eastern plains. we will have 60s in the overnight hours. i will have your complete holiday forecast coming up.

and look how heavy they get on the eastern plains. thunderstorms once again, spilling into the eastern plains. a little less chance for those, though. and by sunday, 2:00 pm, a few scattered to the northwest, to the southeast, otherwise we are high and dry. and that pattern goes into monday. a holiday weekend, sunday and monday will be pretty good. friday could be a little tricky. all that moisture moving up into the area, over the southeast. that is hurricane hermine. winds now to 80 miles an hour. they have increased just a little moving north northeast at 14 miles an hour. and the well defined eye right there. a strengthening storm, and putting a lot of moisture onto the coast. in the gulf, they have had up to a foot of rain so far. you can see anywhere from an inch and a half to 4 inch was rain. all of this still continues to move across the northern sections of the florida panhandle. as you look at hawaii, this is hurricane lester. it was a category 4 last night at this time. now down to islands. we'll keep an eye on that. as we l

so we still have that fog on the eastern plains. a look at satellite and radar, clear of any moisture. we did have a few thunderstorms early this morning out on the eastern plains but those have now cleared out. fire danger is still elevated in parts of the state. in jackson county we have a red- flag warning that will start at noon today. still a bit gusty at times and once you get into wyoming, there's lots of red-flag warnings, fire danger is still very high. taking a look at futurecast for today. you won't notice much activity because we are going to stay on the dry and clear side today. you may still have a few clouds out there and we could get a few thunderstorms out on the eastern plains, but those are fairly isolated and don't really -- not really widespread, so we're not looking at those here in the denver area. we're looking at a pretty great day for the broncos game and all of the fun activities before the game if you're heading out to any of that. tomorrow we have a cold front that comes through. that will bring us some m

we see this 50 denver area so by 4:00 a chance for showers here in denver moving out to the eastern plains. more rain is possible for the northwest and a dryer air mass moving in overnight. again, a lot of our west with 85 in greeley and 90s on the eastern plains. 68 in eagle and 72 in grand junction. this pattern change comes our direction later this week. it heads our way later this week with cooler temperatures and a cold front associated with that. we are in the 80s for the next spot as you travel on the westbound version of evans trying to get on the ramp to northbound santa fe. you can see that is blocked off. so from westbound to northbound via some activity and copter 4 shoot a couple other cars involved as well. we have an accident as you get past 92nd approaching 94th. you can see the speeds in the single digits. it is 30 minutes to get to southbound from 14 out to denver. that is a trouble spot blocking the left express toll lane. the earlier accident has been cleared and you can see the trouble along santa fe not affecting volume on santa fe itself. we have had something in the

sunny skies in the front range and in the eastern plains it is different story. tornado warnings in effect. the threat for those storms will be on the eastern plains through early this evening and the thunderstorms that continue to push towards the northeast contain frequent lightning and heavy rain and reports of hail and report of a tornado near you will see on kit carson county are moving towards the northeast as well. there we have a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 5:30. right now tornado warning in effect for parts of yuma county and it looks like it is mainly moving over rural areas but we will keep an eye on that and see how it develops. at least over the metro area. things are much calmer. a wider view of what is happening across colorado. more scattered storms in the mountains pushing from the southwest to the northeast with frequent lightning in parts of northwest colorado and also to the south near the san luiz valley and seeing lightning on the new mexico border. the area is in green in risk for a storm so not out of the woods from seeing t

today was a real rocking day in the eastern plains of colorado. look at this. we y we were dry and then just a big line of thunderstorms across eastern plains as another trough moves through and keeps us in the 70s today. here's a closer look from yuma to burlington and cheyenne, thunderstorms with a lot of lightning out there today. hail and tornadoes as well. looking at some of the reports we had down here near cheyenne wells we had two landspouts. one on the north edge and another roughly 2 miles north of town. they lasted for about five as we look for the north we had hail around the yuma area. this hailstorm dropped p to marble size hail out in that area. roughly during the course of the game that was on channel 4 today. on the big picture we have a couple of things going on. there is a cold front in billings all the way back to northern california. at the same time, there is a big high over the desert southwest. one of those will be changing tomorrow and for the start of the week ahead. we will take a look at which one and what it does to the temperature c

we've dropped into the lower to middle 60s. 70s on the eastern plains with 40s and 50s up through the mountains. we're fairly dry here all across the statement out to our east is where that severe parts of nebraska. all storms have exited the eastern plains from earlier today. there were some strong storms including one possible tornado pushed through parts of morgan county then out through phillips and sedgwick county before drying everything out. they've also contained a lot of wind. that's been a big problem for folks around the red feather lake although right now calm wind gusts are up there. that's the good news. our strongest gusts are well out on hours or so, we are going to see gusty winds from time to time. we have seen them out in the backyard. we've got -- or we're expecting 12-mile-per-hour gusts around the red feather lakes at 1:00 in the morning. they will calm down again as we get into sunrise. by 2:30 in the afternoon we may see breezy conditions here in denver and some gusty winds up through our foothills. so certainly as we see firefighters face that wildfire going t
