governor brown's preliminary budget reflects a reduction in the overall general fund. fremont school officials had predicted the district would get over $260 more per student beginning in july. as the budget stands now, that number would shrink to $76 per student. the district is remaining optimistic. it wants to hire 48 more teachers for the new year. >>> san francisco muni is trying to come up with a new way to keep cars out of the sunset tunnel. muni street cars have run through that tunnel since 1928. it is no secret you're not supposed to drive there, but every now and again, drivers get in it anyway. our media partners looked into this problem and they found out this has happened 24 times just since 2010. you can see what happens there. cars get stuck on the tracks. it disrupts service on the muni line for hours. now muni is trying to come up with a solution to keep cars out of the tunnel. >> we're planning to add more speed bumps on the road later this week and we're going to do a full assessment to see what else we can do, whether that's more signage, more lighting. >>
