the gate is down. nobody allowed to go to the gates.. so most of these stranded travelers hanging out in the food court. these are people who unfortunately didn't get the text or email from the airlines in time to say their flights had been canceled. they are now here trying to figure out what to do. i've been speaking with them all day and some say they tried to get a bus or train to their destination .. that didn't work. some left to get hotel rooms, but a lot of these people say they're in it for the long haul. one woman said she couldn't get out until tuesday and she is going to be sleeping here. it's a mess around the country. more than 4400 flights canceled today alone and we're already starting to see the cancellations for tomorrow. more than 2000 in the books so far. although airlines say they'd like to get things back up and running tomorrow and return to normal as quickly as possible .. it looks like it may still be a few days. that's the latest from la guardia airport. i'm kristen dahlgren. back to you. still to come on wis ne
