the person responsible for building harbor east. the new charges have been filed against developer john paterakis. he's charged with one count of conspiracy to violate campaign finance law. the charges stem from a poll conducted for councilwoman helen holton. according to the indictment paterakis paid for part of that poll. holton faces two counts of conspiracy to violate campaign finance laws, she could face a year in prison and a $25,000 fine on each of those counts. another developer, ronald lipscomb, admitted his role for part of that. he's already pleaded guilty and in doing so court documents show he implicated paterakis. in a statement holton's attorney says he's confident the new charges against her will be dropped as well. a spokesperson for mayor sheila dixon says she will not comment on the new indictments. coming up, we'll also hear from a close personal friend of paterakis, in the meantime we want to hear what you think. head to abc2news.com and tell us what you think. reporting live at harbor east, sherrie johnson, abc2

it's a car fire that shuts down all lanes of 895 at the harbor tunnel. detoured on to keith avenue and to 95. you could use 95 to the fort mchenry tunnel, but the best bet for the alternate route is 695 traveling around the key bridge instead. now 95 does ease up a bit, traveling on the southbound stretch from 395 eventually hitting the 695 exit. a little further down, there's a crash that blocks two left lanes on northbound 95. it's right at 195, so if you have a flight to catch this morning, you need to allow yourself extra time. definitely use 295 as your alternate route. now on 295, right at the 695 exit, here it is on the northbound and the southbound lanes, and very light activity. we're in excellent shape in both directions but in linthicum in the southwest corner, we're still dealing with emergency road work and it's due to a sinkhole. this completely blocks out route 170, the ramp on the inner loop 695, use route 648 as your alternate. that's a look at your messy friday morning commute, patrice, let's turn it over to you. >> reporter: candace, t

over the past decade, he spent millions of hi own money to develop harbor east. now a grand jury has indicted him, the city prosecutor says he gave helen holton $6,000 to pay for a political poll. another developer, ronald lipscomb admitted he paid $6,500 for that poll. he'll be sentenced in october. earlier this year councilwoman holton was indicted on charges of bribery and purge rate. judge dismissed the charges in may. >> i am thankful for this day, and that i am that much closer to 2 restoration of my good name and the work i've done in serving this city. >> reporter: but holton has been indicted again, this time on charges of violating campaign finance laws. her attorney released a statement saying in part miss holton is innocent. she is confident this charge will meet the same fate as the earlier one. still stephanie rawlings-blake has announced that councilman william cole will replace holton in acting chair of the taxes, finance and economic development committee. as for john paterakis, tan close friend told me he can't believe the state prosecutor chose
