the research is needed to figure out how to deal with all that. anchor: scott kelly, the american astronaut, will be in space while his twin brother mark is on the ground step that is handy for nasa doing their experiment. >> that is a unique coincidence that it gives us an opportunity to compare scott and mark's genomics before and after the flight to see if the spaceflight affected something. that was not the primary reason why we chose, why nasa chose scott to go for life. it was not because of his twin brother on the ground, but is kind of a target of opportunity, if you will. anchor: you were in space for six months. what to do miss the most about earth? >> decides family and friends of course, what i really missed was nature. from the perch of about 280 miles up, we could look down at the rain forest in the natural beauty of the earth but i missed being here and feeling the wind and smelling the grass and watching squirrels and birds run around. that is what i miss the most. anchor: is this year-long mission a stepping stone for a mars mission ultimately? >> the long-duration flights, as i mentioned, are building up our capability to deal with bi
