how strong was the tornado in maryland? let's head over to the meteorologist, tim williams who is live in the first warning weather center. >> some folks got hardly nothing at all, but much of the state had severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings at some point. the time stamp on the right of your screen shows the time these storms started to pick up in intensity, around 2:00 to 2:30. frederick county saw them first, carol county saw them first. some of the brighter colors, the pinks, reds, purples, indicating that there could be some hail associated with some of those. we do confirm, the national weather service confirms that the tornado did touch down in frederick county. carol county, they will be looking at the damage today to assess whether or not a tornado did touch down on the ground there. the damage, if consistent right now, with an ef-1 tornado. winds were reported near 100 miles per hour. we'll keep you posted on what they find out in carol county and we'll have your first forecast coming up. >> thanks ti

the week. on radar you can see dry sweep across state of maryland. even over into delaware that's the way things will stay. we will see a couple of rain showers to the south. but otherwise for us in maryland and portions north into pennsylvania, dry throughout the weekend. 80 degrees in baltimore. 73 in harrisburg. and 77 degrees in new york. temperatures will be dropping into the mid 60s overnight tonight. now for tomorrow. pretty much a repeat of today. but a couple of degrees warmer. then where we were for today. on our future scan model. we have the area of high pressure system. that will be in control of the weather for the next couple of days. but you can also see just to the south, there is a stationary front, and that will be stalled throughout the weekend. just to the south. so if you do have travel plans, to virginia beach, and or ocean city, we will see clouds, and the chance for some rain showers, because the stationary boundary is going to stay south. but the further north you go, towards philadelphia and new york city. high pressure syst

as the storm starts to parallel maryland and the shores, still registers as a tropical storm. it does not turn into a category 1 storm until it passes into maryland and starts to pass into the atlantic city, new england coastline. and that is an important distinction. because the storm will be at its strongest, once it's past the maryland shores. what it means for us, currently moving to the west/northwest. that we're still going to be dealing with big waves along the shoreline. rip currents are going to be pretty high. and we'll be dealing with beach erosion and heavy winds. the winds are also going to come by way of a front that will be moving on through. this front is going to be feeding rain over our area. danny is going to be kicking moisture back into our direction. we'll be feeling the wind and the rain across the state. although the heavier winds are going to be down along the shoreline. some of those could be up as high as hurricane force. minimal hurricane force. 73 to 74 miles per hour. is where you start at a category 1. those could be the types of winds we see down
