and the news continues. today an important pre-trial hearing in the case of the costa concordia, the ship that went down off the island in january, 32 people losing their lives that night. there were more than 4,000 people on the ship, it was a harrowing experience for all of them. the man in the middle of it all, the ship captain, is under house arrest. he was not present today at the pre-trial hearing, but his lawyers were. in addition eight others are under investigation, three from the company itself, and then five other officers who were on the ship that fateful night. this promises to be a very long trial. today important technical things happening. they appointed experts to analyze the black box, all of the communications on the ship on that day. they will be reporting back the next big hearing though is not until july 21st. you can understand why it's going to be a long trial. investigators have collected some 5,000 pages of information and testimony, apparently some former employees from costa cruise
