audrey barnes is in the newsroom with more. >>> it's been a few years since he was gunned down. the reward for information in the case doubled to $50,000 she hopes it helps police catch her son's killer. she poured her heart out in letters to the community and today, the chief of police and dozens of cadets helped her hand deliver them. police cadets armed with flyers and a letter from melvin fields' mother fanned out on to moore street today trying to help solve his four-year-old murder. >> and that is across the street. >> reporter: seals was shot dead on morstreet in april in 2008, at the height of the gang wars in trinidad. his murder is the only one still unsolved and his mother walked the street where her son died with police chief kathy lanier and dozens of recruits, hoping someone will feel compelled to break their silence. >> people want to talk. they want to but they afraid and you have to understand that. i need closure and i don't think you should allow a murderer to stay on the street. >> and that means a lot that you're hopefully what will be closure. >> reporter: t

fox 5's melanie alnwick is in the newsroom with all the details. good morning. >> reporter: officer daniel harmon-wright shot 54-year-old patricia cook during a traffic stop in a catholic school parking lot. at the time, he claimed self- defense. a special grand jury found otherwise. remember those initial police reports? they said after officer harmon- wright asked to see patricia cook's identification, she closed her driver's side window on officer harmon-wright's arm and started driving away dragging the officer along and that he fired when cook failed to stop. now, family and friends say they were baffled at that account. they say she was never violent and her jeep didn't other than have power windows. culpeper police asked virginia state police to take a closer look at the incident. then last night arc grand jury charged daniel harmon-wright with murder. >> the 11 citizens that were summoned to the special investigative girl spent the month of may going over reams of he had, hundreds of different pieces of evidence related to the case as well
