this is a live look near the oakland coliseum. the shooting that anne makovec mentioned on 880 was actually closer -- farther north towards jackson street. but for a while as you saw, traffic was at a standstill in both directions. people were getting out of their cars because traffic was stopped. they had nowhere to go. so around 2:30 this morning, a couple of hours ago, they were able to completely reopen the freeway. and traffic quickly recovered. so, yeah, right now everything is moving fine. if you have an early-morning flight at oakland airport you should have no delay from downtown oakland into hayward. so let's check some other freeways now. westbound 580 coming through the altamont pass, and all the way towards the dublin interchange, no delays so far. 20 minutes or so. we are starting to see some changing color on our sensors though. so that's not a good sign. usually things start to back up there. also, highway 4, they have the left lane blocked on eastbound highway 4 approaching "a" street. this is your overnight roadwo

we had seen flashing lights pasting the oakland coliseum but everything is gone. e was overnight roadwork blocking some lanes approaching high street but everything is good to go northbound 880. southbound is quiet as well past oakland airport continuing down into hayward. here's a live look at the san mateo bridge. the flat section of the span still looks good leaving the toll plaza. heading towards the east bay coming off the high-rise, everything is quiet both directions. 14 minutes from either side of the span. on the maps, we just checked in with chp -- i take that back. it looks like they just cleared it. there was a big rig stalled in the right lane of northbound 101 right by the candlestick exit. but the question mark means they just cleared it a couple of minutes ago so that's good news going into san francisco. so far everything is problem- free coming through the altamont pass. 18 minutes is the drive time between the altamont pass and the dublin interchange. so again everything free and clear through the livermore valley. so this is what we are going to

back here live at the west oakland bart station. here's what we know about what happened. rently between 2:00 and 3:00 this morning two maintenance vehicles collided. nobody was hurt. but there is damage to done to the track. what you have now you have normally two tracks. one going into the city and one going out of the city. one of them is down so they have to single track on that one remaining track. and we don't know how long repairs will take. as you just heard from jim at spokesperson from bart, they will not give an eta on that. one of the things i asked him if people can handle the delays going into the city into the commute this morning, will they be okay for the afternoon, and his only response was no promises. and again that is why they are asking people either delay or just stay home. telecommute. do anything you can do to avoid the traffic into the city this morning. because as sal is watching for us this morning, now i when this has happened before when we've had problems with the tube or bart that the roads get backed up. bart gets backed up. you really get s
