the city of oakland may get more police officers. the announcement comes days after violent protests downtown. >> i'm excited that this year assuming the council passes my proposed budget the county will be hiring more police officers. >> now today oakland mayor libby schaaf will add the department to add 40 more police officers. that would give the department its highest number of offices since 2010. now the plan would cost the city about $6.7 million. however some downtown oakland business owners say it's too little too late. they are getting more frustrated with the oakland police department. one business owner put up a sign that reads opd, you failed your city again. this business owner on broadway had two store front windows smashed by protestors friday night. he said the area has been hit by protestors in the past but the latest vandalism is some of the worse. >> you go up and down and you see much more damage. i think nothing will prevent it. if that doesn't get better i think many will come and see. >> the city of oakland is w
