matt keller, abc 7 news. >> the oakland fire department is honoring the firefighter who died this morning. abc 7 news reporter amy joins us live from oakland city hall with that part of the story. >> reporter: the fire command staff is in meetings working on statement to release to the public. out wardly the department is already showing signs of grief and of pulling together. the flag was lowered to half staff to honor the firefighter who was killed. several fire trucks escorted his body at 2:00 this morning on interstate 280 as it was taken to valley medical center. the firefighter was 30 years old. they have not released his name. we also saw a lot of activity at valley medical center. some firefighters were there to visit with the firefighter who survived the shooting. he's a 26-year-old man who is expected to survive. his name also has not been leased. we saw some san jose firefighters stop by. they brought in water bottles for those visiting the hospital to offer their support. these two shooting victims just graduated from the fire academy in april. they are new on the job. they we

from the bay with the retired vessels. >>> firefighters are getting a handle on the fires in the oakland hills that fired up yesterday afternoon off of the grizzly peak boulevard. at this point it is 50% contained and not grown in size since 9 pm last night. allie rasmus is live with an update from the firefighters. >> reporter: the numbers are the same which is good with 50% containment and the fire has not spread at all since 9:00 last night. the firefighters are feeling pretty confident right now but they still have hotspots to deal with and that is why the firefighters on the scene as they will be throughout the day. the fire burned about 20 acres on the hillside near the south park road and there were 160 firefighters for multiple agencies keeping an eye on the fire for the rest of the day and likely a smaller crew out here overnight. here is the video of when that fire started yesterday and at its worst you can see the helicopters doing and airdropped at 1 pm yesterday at the grizzly peak. the cause of the fire is still under investigation but the firefighters said it was called in
