the oakland as calling this a solid deal this morning. of course, this final vote is in favor of the new 10-year lease for the oakland a's at the oakland coliseum. once we get the final vote we'll let you know. this has been a long back and forth. at one point a's owner lew wolff said he was ready to move the team if the city council for oakland didn't start making their decision. the alameda county board of supervisors is one of the boards that has to approve the lease to move forward. here are highlights on the lease. the a's would lease the stadium through 2024. if the a's move and they have talked about moving, they must give the coliseum a two-year heads up. the lease would be for $250,000 higher than the current lease. that price would last two years and then drop down to $250,000 less than what the a's currently pay. the a's will spend $2 million on new score boards one of the deals worked out. insiders believe this paves the way for getting the a's involved in building a new ballpark at the coliseum site. of course, mayor jean quan, she does not want that. she favors the port of oakland site again. we don't have a solid vote on the a's

but it's no secret the raiders are not happy with the current situation at the oakland coliseum. and it appears they are now considering their out of state options. so here's what's setting off alarm bells all across oakland right now. the san antonio express is reporting that raiders owner mark davis and team executives paid a visit recently to the lone star state. davis met with top city leaders about the possibility of relocating the team. according to the report, davis took a serious look at the alamodome. that's the 65,000-seat stadium that is currently the home of the university of texas at san antonio football team. the city has set aside some funds to complete some upgrades to the 21-year-old dome including some added luxury suites. well, on the flip side, we know san antonio has been down this road before. the city has often been used as a bargaining chip, if you will, for pro sports franchises trying to score better deals in their own cities. that's what's going on? we don't know right now. earlier this month, though, we learned that oakland and the raiders were talking

both alameda county and the city of oakland jointly own the coliseum site. rt the county wants to approve the deal later this morning but oakland says it will vote against the proposal. at issue of course a 10-year lease to keep the a's in oakland. the a's would pay $1.75 million to play at the coliseum next year and $1.25 million in years after that. but it comes with a big concession. the stadium authority would have to forgive $5 million the a's owe in back rent for the a's installing a new scoreboard system. the city council wants more money and will vote against the lease. for its part the county would like oakland just to take full ownership of the coliseum. >> county would love for the city to just buy us out. then the city can center total control over what happens out here. >> reporter: now, at last week's a's lease extension vote, oakland was a no show leaving its chairs at the table literally empty but later this morning oakland councilmembers say they plan to show up here to this meeting to kill the contract. and once oakland leaders vote it down,

on wednesday the oakland city council set to vote on the matter. on friday the coliseum authority meets again. >> the oakland raiders aren't crazy about sharing the stadium anymore because they want to level the coliseum and build a new one. mayor jean quan is pushing for an entirely new coliseum complex that would be more than a fancy new place for the two teams to play. >> you have sports venues, hotels retail, restaurants. >> oakland would have to demolish the old coliseum in two years or so, and it would also have to pay off millions of dollars in bonds from the last remodeling when the raiders returned from l. a. >> phil, you've got a lot of friends and contacts on these boards. what are you hearing behind the scenes? the negotiations are ongoing. it looks as though the oakland city council is poised to say okay we're going to put aside our long-term plans and try to seal up this leak because if not major league baseball is given the green light for the a's to look elsewhere. >> there's a chance this could be resolved this week. >> there's a chance it could be moved
