ohio state university dr. richard strau strauss, he was the team doctor in athletics according to the ohio state university website from july 1981 through 1995. that is during the time that congressman jim jordan was an assistant coach for the wrestling team. there is an investigation that is independent appointed by the attorney general in ohio. they are in the midst of it talking to now grown men who were young athletes at the time saying that this doctor and according to nbc news three former wrestlers have said that dr. strauss showered inappropriately with students and touched them inappropriately during medical appointments. we do have a statement from jim jordan that says congressman jordan never saw any abuse, never heard about any abuse, and never had any abuse reported to him during this time as a coach at ohio state. he has not been contacted by investigators about the matter, but will assist them in any way they ask because if what is alleged is true, the victims deserve a full investigation and justice. one of the wrestlers has said to cnn, and i want to quote here, he says that representative jim jor

matter and there are now some expectations that the congressman might be called in to that investigation as a possible witness. a teacher told cnn, ohio state has an obligation to get to the bottom of this with a thorough and fair investigation. jim jordan has an obligation to cooperate fully that investigation these are serious allegations that have been made by former students and athletes at the school. they're very serious allegations. jim jordan overhappened with the doctor's ten you're for i believe eight years. he reportedly had a locker in the locker room that was right next to the accused physician. if this turns out to be a penn state style scandal and expose, he could end up in a very serious matter. it is one thing to be adjacent to a scandal. it is another thing to have multiple survivors say on the record that you knew about it at the time. you were asked for help and did you nothing. he is a favorite of the conservatives, he is a high profile member of the group. the tea party has that he should replace paul ryan as speaker of the house. outside of far right circles, he has become increasingly famous this past year as h

they claimed they were sexually abused by the ohio state team doctor. age matter here when you have the alleged sexual abuse? imagine if the tables were turned and he was talking about young college women? >> for legal reasons i guess it does. as a practical matter it's never an idea to make accusatory statements of potential victims in a situation like this. that's what i would say. one other thing too on process, don, that i think needs to be understood. the house ethic committee is the only entity that can make sanctions against a sitting number of congress. but the house ethics committee does not have the authority or the jurisdiction to deal with situations that occurred prior to that individual service in the house of representatives. and even then, if you remember, say -- gym jordan has been a member for six years, the committee can only look lake six terms can only have that discretion. now, if the complaint as described is about conduct, his office or himself in terms of how their handling the situation today, that's potentially another matter.
