i am very grateful for the parks i grew up in -- signature and grove to the south, golden gate park to the north and how lucky i was to have all of these parks free. recently my father is dan murphy, a bird-watcher and has been educating me proposition i and proposition h and says hi, phil. and then i saw this video, and i also feel -- somebody said they felt ashamed that they hadn't learned about the privatization of our parks until the video came out and i feel the same way. i did the research and looked on the internet and looked about the fields foundation and fisher and running our parks than what i experienced in growing up. i'm in solidarity with these kids. i'm so impressed by these kids and inspired by them and committed to stopping the privatization of our parks. thank you. i'm the president of friends of mclaren park. it is one of the oldest neighborhood community park groups in san francisco. i give a lot of tours through the park. during those tours, a lot of the folks in the group will think of the park as very scary. it has a lot of hills, there's a lot of dense groves. once you get towards the center of the park you really lose your orientation. you are very much in a remote area. there are a lot of trees that shield your view from the urban setting. you would simply see different groves that gives you a sense of freedom, of being outdoors, not being burdened by the worries of city life. john mclaren had said that golden gate park was too far away. he proposed that we have a park in the south end of the city. the campaign slogan was, people need this open space. one of the things that had to open is there were a lot of people who did a homestead here, about 25 different families. their property had to be bought up. so it took from 1928 to 1957 to buy up all the parcels of land that ended up in

we moved to lot 24 which is the parking lot triangular in shape at the corner of embarcadero and broadway where they would have their shows and pair it with a number of temporary buildings and use about half of that parking lot and for a lease term of 10-15 years and we had a number of presentations in front of the port commission regarding the design and economic terms of that project moving forward and the port commission also directed the theater zinzanni and designers to rules commission, but it is also part of this city's northeast embarcadero district so there is another overlay that are not on of properties which is an extra challenge. at this teatro was a challenge on the design and how they fit into historic district and especially in the course of 2012 on the port commission and the neighborhoods found this was a particular challenge. so after some time to reflect and i believe runnels where in california was successful and came back to the port staff and started the discussion essentially saying perhaps the project was with temporary buildings was not going to suffice from an e
