this has been a partnership between the transportation authority and sf mta. the project is in the environmental review process. i will talk more about this. we are putting together the interviewal document and we plan to release that in the summer of this year. i will give a project background and talk about the staff recommended alternatives and details and next steps. the geary quarter is a six 1/2 mile corridor. the busiest bus lines in the corridor that sf mta operates. 60 thousand trips are carried per day. the 38 local and 38 limited are the current and main line that run on the geary corridor. very heavily used very high frequencies today to 6 minutes at each peak. they travel less and not as reliable to show up when we want them to show up and when they show up, they are crowded when they get behind schedule. so these are the kinds of issues that we are intended to address with our project. our proposal is what we call bus rapid transit. brt which is most prominently figures for the dedicated buses on the streets and a number of improvement that will s

our goal is to pull together this list of projects in february that will be put before the sf mta board for adoption as part of their cip and they vote on that in april. that's where we are right now and that's where we are going next. >> so, the cip process is something that happens every 2 years. the goal for this process is to have a prioritized capital list that are budgeted for the next 2 years but span 5 years worth of improvements. that means every five 5 years we are going to repeat this process which takes into account to the outreach we hear. i want to give a key example is something that came out of the senior and disability focus group was the concern about complex intersections. as the team finalizes the list what we are scanning for are we addressing the needs that people have spoke about regarding complex intersections. they are clearly on our list and are we seeing them on the 2-year list and why are they not possible. and so we talked about the task force. a lot of the funding can be used of a go bond can be used for pedestrian improvement. that is important. temporary

this is a process that we have been thoughtful about and tonight repeat every two 2 years with the sf mta and the capital improvement program. another aspect of is outreach and engagement. we have from constituents about their understanding and knowledge and feelings about pedestrian safety and we have been talking to anyone who will listen to us. we are excited and hopefully we have a lot of people listening and we are going to take the outreach and ideas that we have heard and the discussion that we have heard and look at the prioritized list to make sure we have a lens and attacking the problems that people are understanding in the city. so this is not the first time we've looked at pedestrian safety for those of you who have been working with the city there have been a lot of sort of steps that we have taken and this is one of many steps. this builds on the goals of the pedestrian strategy. there are pedestrian strategies to look at capital improvements of 5 miles per corridor per year and others goals around senior centers or schools and these capital improvements will meet those

my name is o'le son howl from the group of sf mta. our buses would cost about $100,000 more than king county. the reason for that is that we have a lot more optional equipment that we need for our services compared to king county. as shown in the budget analyst report, the attachment one, what we did there was to highlight all the optional items that are more than $1,000 and we indicated why we are buying these options and the reasons we are buying these options the example one example is the dti camera system which cost about $25,000 per bus and the reason for this is mainly for safety so that we can have a camera system that has the capability to download wireless that we can be able to access inside the bus just in case there is a hostage situation we can see inside the bus what is happening. it has all of these special features that were not included in the seattle contract. >> if i can point to even like the first top of the items that are $1,000 or more, if the charge for tires to have aluminum polished and it's $3,000 more. i'm

the first study was the sf loma study and this was very useful information it was the first study and focused in our area. it was useful but i want to point out that the data don't alien with san francisco their study area include san francisco and south san francisco and other areas. their controls are different in those jurisdictions. ted from the controller's office is working on a formula rail based on aggravated data. those studies will include an informational point. we anticipate that study to be released in the coming weeks and we understand that san francisco retail brokers have given us a survey study including the existing studies as well as vacancies and we look forward to the release of that data as today and we role look forward to incorporating that into our analysis. then there's our study based on dunn and brad street data. i want to say that no data set is a perfect but we're encouraged the basic results using the different data sets actually line up so far. we and ted and the realtors have come up with the same percentage of formula retail as a total percentage and
