i work for the san francisco bay chapter of the sierra club. we represent 30,000 members in the counties closest to the bay. this was a habitat's campaign, the idea of the sierra club believe we can practice and more managed natural retreat of the coast line to protect the habitat for species and people. there are people that lived behind the golf course. eventually, the sea will rise and we will have to do with the way to protect them. in natural system will create dunes. the berm will erode. we can create the back area berm to protect the area. i am glad the mayor from pacifica is here to hear that. the natural shoreline is the best protection for those people. if you invest a lot of resources into a golf course including the current proposal to dredge the lagoon, you are only just to find a further need to protect the resources the city and county invested by building a sea wall. there are few places where you have a natural shoreline. this happens to be one of them. it is rare treasure for that and the lagoon's system that is fresh water. yo

same thing in the sierra after a great early start in november, the skies over the sierra have been very dry ever since. the department of water resources says a snow pack is at 24% of normal. making december the second driest since 1921. as a result, it will be hard, if not impossible, to reach a normal snow pack by spring. a more detailed survey will be happening next week. not much is expected to change between now and then. that's what rob mayeda has been saying. it doesn't look like there is anything for a while. >> not looking like that. >> this time last year, should say we were at 120% of average rainfall here in the bay area. you can take that same percentage up to the sierra. we had a lot of snow this time last year. this year, one of the driest decembers we have seen in quite some time tichlts not changing today. good news for new year's eve. we need some rain and snow. 42 degrees in san jose, 44, oakland, southwest winds have picked up. that has helped to break up some fog we saw earlier. 46 across the golden gate bridge. the north bay, a little chilly. we had dryer air move

there are endangered species and as the sierra club, we care about that. there has been a question about how such a project is funded. i passed chair and legislative chair the san francisco bay joint venture, a collaboration of 27 federal and state agencies as well as nonprofits and businesses who work together to restore wetlands are around san francisco bay. we brought over $50,000,000.20 restoration funds in san francisco bay and we have a goal of restoring 200,000 acres. we are helping to restore wetlands at the big london and -- big all the data. we have money for these projects available for federal agencies through a collaborative process we help to facilitate. at the beginning, there was some suggestion that the cards or loaded in terms of who is coming to speak. i think you can see from the numbers speaking on this issue the reason so many people are speaking on it is because there is a heck of a lot of us who want this to take place. >> thank you very much. i'm not going to go into heavy detail, i want to take you down here into the sierra madre. i was following routes all over for the house of rain, trying to figure out where the anastazi went when they left house of rain. many of them made the modern pueblos but other groups continued south. i followed pottery trails down into the sierra madre where my wife and two others went out and we came to these cliff dwellings. it seemed like every single cave we looked into had cliff dwellings. and this wasn't a place with trails. this wasn't a known location. many of these sites were pristine. they were just -- it looked as if people had just left suddenly, just like all the stories in here. little cliff dwellings, little granaries, little sites falling apart. larger sites. this site went actually 5 layers deep into this cave. very particular to this region were these shaped storage rooms. this one is about 10 feet high. often they would have door stones sealing them on the top. and they were of all kinds of shapes and sizes, but they specific to that area. that's the smallest one we
