if you've been wondering how much snow has fallen in the sierra this year - you're about to get your answer. a hydrologist from the natural resources conservation service will be at the mount rose summit tomorrow to measure the snowpack. that will give us an idea where we stand for the year - and what we can expect for the region's water supply for the coming year. a man is in custody after shooting and injuring a storey county sheriff's deputy during a domestic violence call yesterday afternoon. it happened around 4:30 - in the virginia city highlands. deputies, responding to a report of domestic violence were confronted by 51-year- old charles stutts. stutts fire a rifle several times... hitting one of the deputies and another person who was in the area. sheriff gerald antinoro, tells kolo 8 the deputy did return fire... and stutts surrendered. the deputy and stutts were taken to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. both are expected to be ok. county jail on charges including attempted murder of a peace officer. the deputy's name has not been released, but -- per protocol--

yesterday we had a round in the sierra. today is the biggest and most rebust as far as snowfall is concerned. wednesday and thursday are weaker. 29 in town with partly cloudy sxiez and 82% humidity. 20s and 30s for most areas. now we're starting to see the arrival of the snow showers. they're shadowing out quite a looks like reno-sparks is trying to get going. it kind of skips over the far western portion of nevada, that's the shadowing effect and then comes back if you head east of pyramid lake down through places like lovelock and fallon. mix of rain and snow with icing possible showing up on radar at the moment. today is is the best potential for spillover snow to make its way down to the valley locations in far western nevada especially during the morning hours. breaking apart in the afternoon and evening into the sierra. by tonight, break for the overnight hours, another round arrives tomorrow with less spillover potential than today. we'll continue to see snow shower activity heading into thursday as well. a few more r
