and item 5 is an ordinance waving our contracts and procures for the airport terminal one project. >> kathy wagner from the airport is here to talk about items 4 to 5. >> thank you kathy with the san francisco airport the airport is seeking our approval to adjust the section selection process for 2 terminal 2 design team to adapt as well as to adapt the california sequa findings that no e-cigarette environmental reports are required for the terminal projects. our terminal one and boarding area are procured as a request for the proposal requests for two contracts resulting in two separate design teams. although the projects will be flu sdprathd the size and complexity is to break in into two projects that addresses the concerns the risk through bonds and insurance as well as providing for o more incredible opportunities the admin jafts will allow the airport to have core subcontractors before the construction and the addition of core subcontractors allows for a better plan and design project in our experience it's my understanding this approach was taken with the new general hospital

and now with the cruise terminal project where we have taken out the old pier 27 and replaced it with a brand-new cruise terminal facility with the remaining pier 29 facility, that is more like the rest of our finger piers where we have piles and structural supports that really make it more difficult to do active recreation planning areas in there because they're broken up by the structure of the pier sheds. so, there has been an evolution in term of an intent 15 years ago to go for active recreation use at this particular location. and because of the events that i just described, it's now evolved into a cruise terminal. the open space is still there. i think the question about where can active recreation use is still an open question and we're going to be, you know, open to having some further conversationses about that. but i do think that the type of facilities that that use requires ~, large freestand spaces that don't have structural supports [speaker not understood] is one of the challenges that we would have to contemplate in looking at retrofitting and other pier for that use.

thank you >> we're now think item 10 the termination of construction contract. and good morning, commissioners i'm marvin with the rec and park department dupont is located in the mission district between clemente and california street. this project is the refurbishment 6 a restroom building under the 2008 parks bond the commission award the contract for 3 how does to replace the restroom building despite the multiple efforts during the planning phase it was appealed in 2013. the permit appeal was primarily based on the historic status of restroom building although the project rested a categorical thing they identified the restroom building as being constructed under the dpa building it required the features of the building rather than involving the arts commission to further delay the project the department is to renovate the building thereby keeping it's original features it's necessary to terminate the construction contract per section of the general conditions the rec and park department respectfully asked the contract with a retroactive date of 2013 in regar
