ac transit's transbay buses will drop you off at the west oakland b.a.r.t. station. if you must drive, there are detours around the closure but it's going to tame time. the distance from at the east end of the toll plaza to the ferry building is six miles. if you head nord to the richmond san rafael bridge and through marin county, you'll drive almost 36-miles to reach the fer re building and probably spend even more time behind he wheel going south on interstat 880 and highway 92 to the san ma dayow -- san mateo bridge. that is 46 miles. here's a look at the detours. sky 7 is over the richmond san rafael bridge, and here's a look at the traffic on westbound interstate 80 through emeryville. it's backed up to all the way to berkeley. traffic is heavy on the westbound span of the richmond san rafael bridge so you're going to have to give yourself some extra time if you're traveling on any of those alternate routes. >> our exclusive traffic tracker helping a lot of you navigate round the bridge closure. take a look at the richmond san rafael bridge, at the top of your s

christie smith is live at the west oakland bart station with a look at how bart is stepping up to help people get around the closure. good morning, christie. >> good morning. it's coming fast. tomorrow night at 8:00, the upper deck of the bay bridge will shut down and caltrans is circulating, not one, but two flyers. i've been speaking with these guys here, and they tell me that they've been at bart station for nearly two weeks, letting people know about alternate routes and that bart will run 24 hours a day this holiday weekend and something everyone might know by now, but they don't. caltrans has signs up at the entrances to the bay bridge which will be closed until tuesday morning so that realignment work can be done on the new eastern span. 370,000 commuters drive it daily which is roughly the same as bart. instead of closing at midnight, bart will run 24/7. one commuter told us she didn't hear much about it. >> a little bit late, i would think. >> i don't think it was a big promotion on that piece. >> when did you find out? yesterday? >> but the times we've run overnight before an

the two most recent happened last night. one shooting was in north oakland, the other in west oakland. after 8:45, police say a man called 911 saying he had been shot a couple of blocks away. he was taken to the hospital but we don't know his condition right now. >>> less than two hours later police say a man went to oakland's children's hospital with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. police say he was conscious and talking. the man told officers he was shot at 56th and dover streets. police are still investigating. >>> children are exposed to this at a young age and some say it is a way of life and that means their educators have unique challenges. we will hear from some of them later in the newscast. >>> the first actual construction work on the north bay's smart train is getting underway today. a ground braking for the first phase of the tracks was held at 10:30 this morning at the petalooma depo. that section will run between san rafael and santa ross. that is the green line. the smart train may connect to cloverdale and larkspur if a second phase is funded. >>> starting toni

the east bay this morning. police are looking for both suspects and witnesses at this hour. anne makovec is in west oakland where a major street was closed earlier this morning. good morning. >> reporter: we are now seeing the light of day coming up here in west oakland. but police are still not shedding any light into their investigation. a lot of questions this morning. you can see this red car here behind me. this is where police found a man who had been shot. now, they're not saying how old this man is, how many times he had been shot or exactly what condition he is in. but we know he was taken to the hospital. now, police have said that somebody called 911 to report that there had been a shooting here in the area. but they are not saying who that person was or whether or not that person had any information into this crime. i know that they have been spending time this morning knocking on doors around the area trying to find some more witnesses in this case. but in the meantime, one block of adeline here at 32nd is shut down right now. and it's just the northbound lane that is -- the southbound lane, i

oakland on the scene of a shooting that happened just a short time ago. she has details and joins us now. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. i'm here in west oakland, 34th and adeline and you can see this red car behind me where a man was found shot at least once. he is right now in the hospital and police are investigating what might have happened to him. they are not saying much this morning, just that it was an adult male who was shot. they say they have no witnesses at this time. we know they were knocking on some of the doors here in the neighborhood trying to find anybody who might have heard or seen something. at this point they are not saying how many times this man was shot. so a lot more information is needed. a couple of blocks of adeline and 34th are shut down and will be for the next couple of hours. >> thank you. anne makovec with break news out of oakland. thank you. >>> new this morning, a man is in stable condition after being shot near fisherman's wharf. investigators say some people were arguing at the 300 block of jefferson last night when one of them pulled a gun and shot another. two suspects taken in custody nearby,
