kevin: yes, and i think you can look at iowa, where theresa greenfield is giving senator joni ernst aoney. the president traveling to both iowa and north carolina this week. the question for senator ernst and senator thom tillis of north carolina, the republican incumbent, is do you separate yourself from president trump, or do you link yourself to him and pin your hopes on him? it is interesting to watch senator ernst continue to double down with president trump, but senator tillis taking a slightly different approach, still with the president, but not afraid to make direct appeals to suburbanites who are voting biden at the top of the ticket. jonathan: every day there is a new poll and a new story, and i think the polls of the last 24 hours got everybody's attention with that outlier quinnipiac poll in georgia. can you speak to what is going on there? kevin: this is a state that democrats have really wanted to pick up and win for quite some time. so again, if you look at the semblance of there being a potential blue wave, that would bode well for biden should he be able to pick up g

she trailed democrat theresa greenfield by 12 points. with ernst participating in the supreme court hearings how do e iowans feel about this? >> reporter: well, ayman, you mention mentioned about voters. when i talked to voters about president trump and joe biden, they're split. when i was talking with democratic voters here at this early voting site, they're very divided. republicans telling me they're looking at the protection of the second amendment and bringing the economy back. democrats are focussed on how the president tackled coronavirus and lack thereof and climate change. they all, however, bring up health care. senator ernst voted to repeal the lawsuit -- to repeal the affordable healthcare act. that's one of the reasons voters in iowa have soured on her. when i talk to republicans and democrats they wanted to emphasize how important the confirmation of a new supreme court justice is. take a listen to what they told me. >> we need people in there who are going to interpret the law the way it's meant to be, not put their politi

in iowa, the two are tied at 49% apiece and in iowa, the senate race there, democrat theresa greenfieldd over republican incumbent joni ernst. >> so john heilemann, i love the polls and where they poll because it really does break up -- gives us a sample from each of the three regions that are making a difference. upper midwest that catapulted donald trump to victory in 2016 and right now he's struggling mightily in wisconsin and in michigan. pennsylvania seems to be right now slipping away. it's about plus 6, plus 6, plus 4, plus 5 in those states if you look at the public polls and some of the private polls and trump people have said they're going to be focusing on the sunbelt instead. so we go to the sun belt looking at nevada, and arizona, having to worry about georgia. nevada is a solid plus 6. arizona if you believe all of the stories we saw this weekend seems to be slipping out of the way. but if i'm the trump campaign what concerns me the most are those midwest states. not the upper midwest states but iowa and ohio. if i'm tied there, three weeks out, and still tied in georgia a
