there is a thom hartmann app. thanks. with regard to the electoral college, it's fascinating, you go back and read james madison's notes on the national convention and what was clear back then, it would take four days for news to get from washington, d.c. to southern georgia, for example. the -- the -- it would be very hard for someone in georgia to know who was running for president if all of the candidates were in d.c. or new york, which was the capital of the united states until 1800. so, the idea of the electoral college is each state would elect some wisemen who would -- who would evaluate the candidates and go to washington, d.c. and cast their votes for the candidates. this is going to prevent a low moral character from becoming president. you can argue the first 50 years of the united states, there was value in that, although it largely protected the united states. it biassed the southern united states. it is an arc now. there is an effort to do away with the electoral college. states sign on and say whoever gets

thom jensen, nbc bay area news. happening tomorrow a vote that could mean you'll be paying more at the pump. california air resources board is set to vote on an update to the state's low carbon fuel standard. now, that proposal would lower carbon emissions faster and reach governor newsom's goal of cutting emissions in half by 2030. if it goes through, however, it would also increase costs for petroleum refineries, which means paying more for gas. that hike could be up to $0.20 more per gallon. it's a frustrating trend. tonight, a san jose business is now looking to up its security after a third break-in. nothing bundt cakes and a starbucks next door were both broken into overnight. this is on meridian avenue in willow glen. the owner of the bakery says they were first broken into in 2020, then again on september 9th and then last night. the owner says the thieves smashed right through the front windows all three times he took the quarters out of the tills, so maybe he's doing laundry. we can't see what he had. it w

thom jensen today in the bay. late last night, the california air resources board approved new clean air standards that are expected to raise gas prices. it's a step toward california's goals of significantly cutting the use of oil and gas by the year 2030. the plan adds new costs for oil refiners, which are expected to be passed through to the customer. the estimates vary from a few cents a gallon to as much as $0.85 more a gallon. the vote capped a 12 hour long meeting with a lot of public comment. the proposal had faced criticism from lawmakers, who said the air resources board was ambiguous about the costs that would be passed on to consumers, as well as environmental groups who said the new updates don't do enough to reduce air pollution. that pending criminal case against donald trump is now on pause. a judge halted proceedings in the now president elect's 2020 election interference case. the decision was made at the request of special counsel jack smith, whose team is prosecuting trump in federal court. thi
