hi everybody, i'm thomas roberts.investigation of a man shot and killed by law enforcement this morning. boston police commissioner evans described the officer's encounter. >> pulled out a military type knife and officers asked him several times to put that knife down and gave him several commands. the officers tried their best retreating and several more orders to put down and at that point he came within the proximity that the officer use deadly force. >> justice correspondent pete williams is following this for us. what more can you tell us? >> the shooting was this morning at 7:00 7:00 in the morning, according to law enforcement, the suspect -- the person they were investigating in his 20s was boarding a bus. he had been under surveillance they say because they fear he might be preparing to carry out some kind of attack today. they say they suspect he had become radicalized by isis inspired media. they had him under surveillance. they approached him and you heard the police commissioner describe the encounter. th

hi, everybody, i'm thomas roberts.nd terror investigation, just about an hour ago here live on the air that police wrapped up a meeting with local religious leaders and came out to address reporters and showed surveillance video of this incident that took place yesterday to the community leaders. in that video, it showed police shooting and killing 26-year-old rahim, they were trying to question rahim, when he brandished a military style life. rahim's brother questioned the act saying he was shot in the back. police have said he was shot in the torso and abdomen. but ministers who saw the video say that appears to not be the case. >> the video is inconclusive, i don't think he was shot in the back by virtue of that however we couldn't see clearly at all whether he was brandishing a knife or not. it was like 1/20th of the overall frame, very far away. >> i want to correct that. they said he was shot in the stomach, shoulder and the chest and that person there was speaking specifically to it being inconclusive whether or

i'm thomas roberts.ws about the two killers on did lam after the dramatic jailbreak in jup state new york. new york state police receiving 300 tips in the hunt for the two. today on "morning joe," new york governor said that the men must have had a police in their escape from new york's largest maximum security prison. >> i would be shocked if a correction officer was involved. but someone assisted them at least with equipment. >> state police, the department of corrections, federal marshals and the fbi all working the way. a $100,000 reward is being made for information leading to their capture. authorities believe they fed the correctional facility friday night or saturday morning. both using power tools to drill holes behind their beds and dummies used as decoys. they then cut into a 24-inch steam pipe. this is according to governor cuomo and traverse the way through the pipe. they eventually cut another hole from inside the pipe to exit the two men navigated another series of tunnels until they exite

thomas cromwell. this the sing e best biography i ever read of napoleon by andrew roberts in one volume. it's a stupendous read and very accessible read about who napoleon was and his triumphs and failures. he won almost all of his battles but unfortunately the ones he lost were pretty dispositive. he was a brilliant statesman a brilliant manager brilliant general, but who kind of, toward the end i think maybe because of hubris kind of lost sight of this own techniques, his own lessons learned and ultimately they were turned against him. this is a great read and a real re-appraisal re-assessment of the importance of napoleon, even down to modern history. great read. must read. scott burg wrote this biography on woodrow wilson, a bit of re-appraisal wilson had this mix of incredible progressive record in the white house especially in his first term. statesman during world war i. but also certain lay retrograde attitude toward race relations in america but it's a great balance and ultimately one appreciates sort of that progressive movement that woodrow wilson most certainly took advantage
