but it looks like it'll be tim waltz and jeff pawlenty in that. keith ellison, congressman leader with the democratic national committee. he got hit with those last minute accusations of domestic violence. now, he's going to win this primary and win it comfortably. this is very comfortable margin, but this is situation with that domestic violence accusation, this is big what-if hanging over this in the fall. the dnc said late this afternoon they are looking into the allegations against him. so maybe to be continued on that front. but keith ellison right now will go into the election right now. and tim baldwin one of those democrats. and sort of a surprisingly comfortable margin over ken nicholson, trying to run and win this primary here tonight. the polling though has baldwin ahead in this race by double digits. this is paul ryan's district, paul ryan now running for re-election. bryce he had some last minute revelations in this race about a previous arrest for dui, a couple of other offenses. he's shown he can raise money in this district there,

trump has been one of the key issues between johnson and pawlenty with johnson using quotes that tim pawlenty election against him and pawlenty has had to prove his drum support bona fides. leland: we saw that work well for john james and the machine primary for senate or he was able to wrap a never trump sign around his opponent and then john james one. does it surprise you that president trump as i waited on the? >> no, it does not. this is a primary and somethin something -- you got strong candidates in jeff johnson and tim pawlenty and regardless of who is a primary will be pretty happy to support either one of them against the eventual opponent. this is a state under dfl rule for a long time and it's a blue state but could turn red in the governor's race. i don't think it would matter too much if president trump had weighed in the primary side because i think the be a strong coalescence run the eventual gop candidate after today. leland: conventional wisdom in washington scissors huge enthusiasm gap between the public and voters democratic voters now heading in 2018 as we go to november.

you teed up, tim pawlenty, a lot of republicans looked at this and thought it was good to get tim pawlentyack in the race. jeff johnson he was the runner in 2016. johnson lost by 6. now, who will he face this november, tim walls, congressman from the southern part of the state. that's a rural district. walz has a position and does pull through the primaries, walz/johnson in november. the other big race out of minnesota was keith ellison. allegations in the final days of his campaign about domestic violence. well, you have the primary results. it's supposed to be here. let me see if it comes up. there you go. keith ellison wins the primary big. and this story becomes a cloud over the general election. the dnc said they're going to look into the allegations against ellison. will we learn more? anything like that? ellison, the democratic nominee, that story just hanging there. and the other big story, it's in wisconsin, it's next door. democrat taking their fourth shot at scott walker. he won in '10. he won again in '14. tony evers, a democrat. had walker down 13 point to evers. we will see.

but jeff johnson knocking off tim pawlenty and republicans thinking the reason they worked so hard toecruit pawlenty into the race was they thought, hey, minnesota is a tough road to hoe for democrats, but maybe pawlenty was the guy that could do it. now they'll have to do it with johnson. a lot of conventional wisdom is that could hurt their odds. the other thing is who do the democrats nominate? they nominated tim walz, a congressman for a district that went for trump by 15 points in 2016 down in the rural southern part of minnesota. so he's got some appeal to the trump, to the republican parts of the state. that could help him as well. the other big marquee governor's race, you mentioned it in the upper midwest, wisconsin. we will be talking a lot about this in the fall. scott walker, democrats couldn't beat him in 2010 when he first ran. they couldn't beat him when they tried to recall him in 2012, they couldn't beat him in 2014. now democrats have a candidate to go after him for a fourth time. tony evers nominated last night. we have a poll taken on that race very recently. it's
