what brought me to city build was that i was at orientation in the (inaudible) industries and they passed out fliers outlining acceptance and to the requirement. and out comes for the city build program, and i thought about it and i said, to myself, i am going to attend one of the orientations sessions because i'm interested in beginning the job market and to update my skills after six years of retirement. my most valued experience at cap was especially my accounting skills and learning quick books. since completing cat my out look on life and job entry has changed. the program gave me a chance to evaluate my administrative skills as well as feeling technical expertise in a state of art consumer-based management tools. first, excel, powerpoint and accounting. professionally speaking, i know that i can compete with the best in my field of contracts, construction and administration and in management. the program is challenging and i found the program highly ininstructed that gave each participant personal attention when needed. and a word of warning, new attendties should be committed to st

migrated to this city i am invested because i recognize that i had to receive city services to have my basic needs met for a number of years. and as a person who has experienced homelessness, violence and unemployment and employment discrimination, like many of my peers, i see that the crucial need for having supportive service providers there, filling the void when family members and those on the community don't. our housing issue s commitingty has renewed focus on 12 n since i have been on the commission in the last two years. but we need leadership from the see to insure that our needs are being met. so, the youth commission, 2011, 12, and 12, 13, budget and policy priorities. and we wanted to expand the implementation to attract the lgbtq, youth and services by insuring that the department and seeking efforts to identify the needs of lgbtq youth. >> it has included in participating in a working group with dph, and the human rights commission which we will hear about later and we have also been involved in supporting the development of the first 12 n training program and

the city which makes it impossible for that fund to supplement the city's retirees. i there the subsequent is also the purchases of the health system. i want to ask that everyone be included. i think it's prudent to request they're a separate employer as well and it's prudent to cluchld in this legislation. again, i want to thank you very much for and a gm. what would happen if they choose not to join in and what happens to the health system as it stands today in terms of protection and continuing on with city and county retirees. and the other question have having a copy of the paper it says they permit - the mayor two-thirds of the supervisors that having worked with the city and county of san francisco over the 40 years i'm i skeptical of that kind of language i personally believe it has to go back to the voter who voted for this chart amendment because we have no guarantee that the future members excuse me. the mayor will have the same philosophical approach for the retirees i thank you. thank you very much. >> thank you very much. >> thank you. next speaker, plea

and welcome to san francisco city hall. on this momentus occasion, we are going to have and celebrate the unveiling of the adolf trotro bust. and so we will begin with the present mayor of san francisco, mayor ed lee, talking about one of the former mayors of san francisco adolf trotro. >> all right. thank you, ellen. >> you are very welcome. president lee. >> good morning, everyone and welcome to city hall. and thanks for as a various departments that are here, i understand that we have three representatives from our counsel general offices, certainly our counsel general from germany, from israel and russia. thank you very much for being here. former supervisor clint is here, i can see him in the crowd thank you for being here as well. our chiefs from the fire and police department are here. members of our commissions are here as well and thank you very much. my good buddy, leonid, mucupkin has been an advisor to me for many, many years previous to my being mayor of san francisco. and he is always been giving me great advic

to really prepare and educate the graduates for today. and dignitaries and hosts, thank you for your time which shows how important city build is to the city of san francisco. and you know, it is really energized to be a ceremony like this where it is the end of one journey and allows you to take that next step and what you just completed is a really practical program that you can have truly a significant impact in your life and i know that because i'm familiar with the path that you are about to start. as i too started my journey in the trades and i have been lured to the benefits that you get from construction and you know that you try to plan and you figure out what you are going to do in the morning and then in the afternoon there is real physical results and the pride from your work and the web corp builders we are proud to have many of the graduates working on our projects. and once you are in the field, the opportunities only continue. you know, it is not uncommon for people to expand their horizon and their abilities going to estimating and business development and union representatives, and becoming inspectors for the city and goi

we have to figure out how the other cities are losing hope. we are a country of equal opportunity and not equal results. we have to make sure people have the ability to move up an share in the american dream and that means being self sufficient and having the education that you need to understand the issues and participate. when it comes to tech, we have a government in new york city that gets it. we have a group of business innovators and we have city data available to software developers and starts grow and constantly working to matchup investors with tech start ups in our city. city has itself a jobs developer and we've got a chief data analytics officer whose job is including combatting mortgage fraud and stopping prescription drug abuse and things like that. you wouldn't think of technology being useful but in this day and age it is. we have a mayor that road in the taxi in the first bloomberg summit in october. i'm a good customer and everybody was watching. so we look forward to seeing you in new york city and once again, thank you for y

what do you think is going to happen now at city hall? do you have any idea how many people might get married this year? >> i was talking, it's nice to have the same old team at city hall and of course, a good friend in mayor lee and so, i was able to quickly check in with them and they're going to extend the hours tonight. and i imagine there will be hundreds and hundreds of couples streaming in. people have been waiting for this for years and years and years. many snuck in in 2008, so that door was closed and i imagine there are going to be tens of thousands over the next few years. and a sober reflection. we still have 37 states. we're the 13th now. 13th state with marriage equality. that means 37 others did not provide the same quality that california does, so we have an extraordinary amount of work ahead of us. >> on the phone with us live is gavin newsome, driving to san francisco city hall to look over some of these gay marriages that are now happening. lieutenant governor, you know this. you've been asked it several time, the catho

, to have a great life in the city. i felt like there were too many of my peers that should have had the same opportunity. and, so, it's a big reason why i decided to participate in politics. >> you mentioned you were the executive director of the african-american arts and culture complex. how has that experience as well as the experience of serving on two commissions prepared you for the board of supervisors? >> well, i did serve on the san francisco redevelopment agency commission and the fire commission, and i was really fortunate to run this great center. and all of those experiences, running a nonprofit, being on a commission, working for the city, responding to constituents, doing the kinds of things that many folks are doing every single day to make our city better, i mean, i don't see a better preparation than that for becoming a city supervisor. the nonprofit world is a very challenging community to work in because of the fund-raising involved, because of the needs for such great programs. so, to be in the middl

city. we're making sure that data belongs to our city, not the vendor. and second, we're making sure that any software that we buy or build hatx a public api or some equivalent. we don't want to be held hostage by a vendor or by technology. this data belongs to our constituents. we are simply stewards of it. in closing, i want to thank the hatchery, i want to thank our city leadership, mayor, as well as president chiu and partnering with us on this legislation. and i want to thank all of you in our community who have really done amazing things with this data. it's just a celebration of the good work that you're doing that we're here. open data would not exist without our community. so, with that, i'm going to actually hand it off to 100 plus to do a really quick demo and then we're going to do a little q & a and we'll have them come up next. >> 100 plus, we're based here in san francisco. we are interested in small healthy behaviors, ways to be healthy that don't involve going to the gym. we created a system where we recommend hops or help opportunities.

[ applause ] >> it's great to see everyone here, on a saturday morning a little bit on the dark. i thank you coming to this joint district two, district 3 town hall. i want to thank our mayor as well as a department head standing behind us. i think all of you know that every year the mayor and the board of supervisors we approve the most important policy document in the city which is our annual document, the budget reflects our city's priorities and how we want to address activities or do want to engage in. i want to thank mayor lee, in 2011 when he came into the office and number of us asked him to engage more deeply in our neighborhoods and conduct town halls that solicit prospectives and feedback from all of you to us as a budget is being prepared as the budget is being proposed to our board of supervisors and is the board of supervisors considers it. let me briefly - actually i will do the agenda overview in just a second - with that i want to turn it over to my colleagu

that allows departments to search and review payments that the city is making to various vendor. and lastly, the fifth bulletin and a excuse me. and a around the equal access is it mostly the city employees data or is it a combination of the two. we have a handful of different pieces which with are already up if you assess open book. most of it isn't focused on the city government so we have at the moment what the city is spend money on. we have active a simple version of the database which allows you to see what the city is paying vendors. so the economic bar roommate. we have some race gender information. and we really want to improve that going forward >> we have a small amount of information that's geographyly there. we think it's interesting information. we hope to have more in the year ahead >> so it's sf open book. >> sf open book @.org. and you can pull it down and launch in the different modules we're trying to billed >> okay. i'll take a look at. and we welcome feedback as we are building to serve public needs. and lastly a significant light and effort obviously by us an

obligation to share that with the city so that we can mine that to the rest of the city, that's advance of opportunities for everybody. i know at the heart of sharing this data, there is going to be a lot more jobs created, a lot more people out therein venting new ways to establish small businesses that will improve the way we live and work and play in the city. and we look forward to great events like a super bowl host or something like that, we're going to be able to give people a really rich amount of programs that they could access from here to santa clara to san jose. we can act regionally with our data and we can join and continue to be in the great city of san francisco. so, i want to thank all of the people, all of the different starting up companies here and those that are inventing with us, thank them for celebrating innovation month in such a exemplary way. and i think we're going to have a lot more to announce before this month is out, including on our way to the world series. thank you very much. will continue to do that in city hall. second of all that we manage our finances in a very responsible manner. we need to protect not only our services today but we need to protect services in the future and for future generations of children in san francisco. lastly that we have a budget that reflects the values of everyone in san francisco. we want to make sure that everyone is included and has a voice in the budget going forward. i will tell you now as a district two supervisor, my priorities will continue to be one, focusing on district two and having a razor focus on our issues, in should the economic footing of the city is on the right track. we talk about it before but our employment rate has gone from 9.8% to 5.4% unemployment in san francisco. it has a lot to do with macroeconomic climate but what we do in city hall as well. we need to continue to put the foot on the gas pedal in the jobs are not an issue for san franciscans. lastly we want to talk about the life issues. how can city hall make life better? whether

(applause) >> we are going to make san francisco an even safer city. we developed a six-year police staff and fire staffing plan to train san francisco's first responders. over the next two years ~ san francisco will hire 300 new sworn police officers with six new academy classes. and we will add 120 firefighters with three new fire academy classes. with with 35 construction cranes across our skyline, you can see public and private construction jobs being created every day. in fact, an estimated 223,000 jobs will be created over the next 10 years from city projects alone. for our part, we're making a sound investment of $25.1 billion in capital projects over the next 10 years through our city's ten-year capital plan. this proposed budget includes unprecedented levels of general fund sub poderth for these smart capital investments. ~ support $72 million in year one and $105 million in year two. thank you, president david chiu, for your collaboration on our city's 10 year capital plan that will ensure we strategically invest in our city's infrastructure.

will fund 200,000 to the city to fund a tenderloin safe passage pilot program. and 1.55 million to the city for transit and safety improvements directly around the cathedral hill campus. moving to the pacific and california campuses, cpmc will fund $3 million to the city for enforcement and traffic safety improvements around the two campuses. around st. luke's there is 3.3 million of in-kind streetscape and pedestrian improvements which will be constructed along with the hospital and other things at st. luke's. and at the bayview campus also in kind 475,000 in streetscape and pedestrian improvements. the next slide which i hope is somewhat legible on the screen, but you should be able to see it in front of you, is the payment schedule which has been worked out. this was not worked out yet when we were before the board a couple of months ago. and what this does is it just takes the $70 million that we are receiving from cpmc for all of these different items and attempts to do the kind of puzzle distributing it across the five years. and what i will point out is t
