janine de la vega is live and spoke to the victim's dad. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. there is a group of people gathered in front of the home of jose. there's a makeshift memorial. ther was a tremendous amount of gur on fordham road. the bullets were flying everywhere. one of the bullets went into the family home. candles were hit and prayers were set at lewis's home. his father hit the gunshots that killed jose as he was sitting in the driver's seat at 11:00 last night. >> two in the leg. yeah. >> reporter: the car was riddled with bullet holes. a 15 and 16-year-old who were passengers were hit by the bullets but are expected to survive. another teen was uninjured. they told officers two latino men walked up to him and started to shoot. officers found at least 25 bullet casings at the scene. >> there was definitely no communication between the suspect and the victims. the victims were just sitting in the car. the car was running. and they were possibly waiting for somebody to come out of a house so they could leave. >> reporter: police are trying to figure out if the

good afternoon, i'm tori campbell. this has been a busy morning for bay area firefighters. in san jose, there battled a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex near san thomas expressway. this is how it looked from newschopper2 just after 9:00 this morning. about ten minutes after the first call came in. everyone got out safely. firefighters put out the flames in about 15 minutes. and this is a picture that the san jose fire department sent to us of the building as flames were coming from the windows. two people were displaced by the damage. investigators are looking for the cause. >>> meanwhile, in redwood city, the investigation is underway into a fire where 20 people are now without a home. the fire on oakside avenue near fair oaks elementary school started in a carport and spread to several apartments. ktvu's brian flores was the first reporter to show us the damage. he joins us live. >> reporter: good afternoon. redwood city firefighters were here all morning. investigators will be here throughout the afternoon as they try to piece together exactly what happened that ca

good afternoon, i am tori campbell. >>> firefighters in southern california continue to battle a wind driven wildfire that scorched thousands of acres. the so-called summit fire is moving fast through a rugged area in riverside county, 25 miles west of palm springs. it started yesterday afternoon and so far more than 2900 acres have been burned. at least one structure has been destroyed. we checked with cal fire. it says winds are gusting as high as 40 miles per hour, right now, this fire is 40% contained. >>> another fast moving fire is also threatening hundreds of homes in ventura county, the springs fire started at 6:30 this morning there and has already burned several mobile homes. flames are moving down slopes towards subdivisions, so an evacuation order is in place for residents in the area, that includes the smoke choke campus of california state university, channel islands attended by 5000 students. cal fire says 2200 acres have burned and that fire is nowhere near being contained. >>> here in the bay area firefighters are still on two fire lines in napa and sonoma counties. o
