. >> and i want to weigh in and say that the whole goal of the transit effectively project is to increase service and to really, i think this is a really to the out reach and taking that input to implementation. and i think that the public distrusts that has been mentioned in the public comment is not just the staff this time but in october and november, i think that the mta is really being self-critical about that. and i think as commissioner kim has recommended, to have very clear implementation plans presented here, and keeping us as commissioners in the loop and the ta as well, is something that the mta is committed to, and i think that sean kennedy's work is a great example and the 5 h limited but there are other examples of the vulnerable populations that were committed to do and increasing it and the better system of functioning of the transit system in the city. and i did want to also say that i think that my expectation as a chair of the committee is that we would have regular if possible, monthly written updates and a occasional presentations that really keep us, the transportat

we also were able to get these new stops included as part of the transit effectiveness project which is a project that mta looking at the entire system and ways to make it more user friendly. and for those of you who ride the j line you probably have seen we've added a new stop on market street coming inbound. that has been helpful for people going to market street but also if we have to have turn backs of service and transfers sometimes we have to replace with a bus with lines that are down and people are able to transfer right there marking would get on the bus. it provides a lot less flexibility for any problems that come along the way. it's for something i think people really appreciate it. so now to where we are going from now, we have two more stops at balboa park. there is already an accessible platform when you come into the station. we are working with bart to completely -- if you come from city college there is now a ramp that comes down to balboa park station that will go over on a new platform. where the metro trains come in they will be able to enter the bart station and

so basically what's happening is the transit effectiveness project has provided no evidence whatsoever that the walking along distances by the elderly to bus stops would be detrime detrimental to their height. i did seek out medical opinion and it's increasing difficulty with age with walking along distances and climbing and the combination of the two. now your publically aware of the difficulty you're causing by walking along distances to the bus and limiting and alternating buses that provide the hardship. it begins at the age of 65 or at least one quarter of the seniors owning over 65 and 69 will experience difficulty. now your publicly aware you have the responsibility to address that. i want it into the record and now no one is unaware felt circumstances. >> thank you. next speaker, please mary. >> mary that's exactly what he said your publicly aware of this. we've told the past year time and time again those cars are not insured this company is going to deny responsibility. they're saying their responsibility by good luck getting money from them. they've made it clear they're not

supervisors on our capital projects including the central subway and components of the transit effectiveness project. moving into the state this is the second legislative legislation. they have yes, ma'am innocent deadlines and new introductions that have a much are shorter time, if you will, they only have one year ambassador again, the state budget they're looking better. and from the governor on down through the legislation there's a lot of relief and this agency receives $37 million for the state transportation fund those are critical for the operating needs and critical statewide for operators who denied on those for the operator budgets. with regards to capital funding under b we're really looking at the close out of prop 1-b that's a $3.6 billion program that was passed by the voters many years ago it was for many funds that went back to san francisco. a majority of those funds are dedicated to the subway. we're waiting for the last appropriation for the transit operators can gather their infusions from that program. san francisco we've received $600,000 that's the largest plan and there's a

and for us it is going to be getting much more difficult in the coming year because the transit effectiveness project will be coming out and that does involve some or one of the speakers mentioned removing some bus stops and changes. and so there is going to be a lot of opposition to it and it is going to be tough, but ours again and we have it look out for the whole city and the case is made well for the involvement of the small business community and the work of mt a and i would like to make a suggestion that your commission, came up with 12 different suggestions and we have several as well. and i think that it would be very unwhiledy to try to deal with tonight and i would suggest that we consider asking our staffs to work together on some of the most sale ent recommendations and to come back and we could meet again in six months or three months or whatever and talk about the specific things that will show essentially how the mta reaches out to and involves the small business community early on in the process. and i would hope that something like that would you know that recommendations could come

project. while essential in the constrainedded funding environment effective transit coordination can be challenging. in our 2012 report for services for transportation disadvantaged populations we found that 80 different programs in eight agencies fund a variety of transportation services related to education, employment, medical, and other human services. we concluded that improved federal leadership and guidance for furthering collaboration efforts could improve the coordination of transportation services among state and local providers. fta has made some progress in enhancing coordination for this population. according to fta officials as a result of map-21 the agency has been updating program guidance and issued draft program circulars for a number of relevant programs. in addition, fta continues to support federal programs that play an important role in helping those populations by providing funds to state and local grantees that in turn offer services either directly or through private public transportation providers. chairman johnson, ranking member crapo and members of the committee. this c
