families came out to the virginia museum of transportation in roanoke today for train lovers day. those who took part got the chance to learn more about the y-6-a steam locomotive from st. louis. the event also featured model train displays, diesel train organizers say this event has brought train lovers from around the world. fran ferguson/ director of development:"we are so pleased and grateful to have what is left of the best of norfolk and western's theme housed here at the virginia museum of transportation. we have guests who come from all over the world we've already got guests who've signed up for 611 excurions from australia and new zealand. the world knows what special locomotives and engines these were." ferguson says they are planning more events in the future including some excursions in the spring. the c and o railway heritage center in clifton forge is hosting its annual george washington's train show fundraiser this weekend. the event includes vendors, discussions with authors, free antique appraisals and more. organizers say it's a great way to teach the public tha
