tremaine. and dr. hooker too. when you make an allegation, obviously you're not a team player right then. so what is it to lead me to believe that you're just not an incompetent employee, you're just -- you're just out you're a troublemaker, you don't want to work with the team we have all been on the team before, and when you're looking -- what is to make me, because i've seen this happen before where you -- how do i know dr. head is a very good doctor. he just might not be very good, so we move you out of the clinic and put you in a closet or somewhere, and essentially move you out of clinical care, just to get you out of the way. and it is very hard to protect your reputation if you have two or three or four senior people ahead of you who are making those allegations. so how do you protect yourself from that, to follow up on miss rice's statements. how do you do that? how do i know you're not sitting here -- >> well my reputation speaks for itself. and my -- my education clinical expertise and track record spea

let me go now to msnbc's tremaine lee. tremaine describe the scene where you are. >> how you doing, rev. i'm here soointt. paul street. people are holding signs, black lives matter. no justice, no peace, no racist police. now one thing that is different about this crowd, there are two things. one, the sheer diversity of the crowd here. it was billed as a march for high school students college students to gather. and it's reflective. but also as of yet, we haven't seen any police along the route. we're at penn station, you saw police cars lining up some with their shields and s.w.a.t. regalia heading the opposite direction. but so far it's been peaceful, no police. but the crowd is exuberant. they're excited. once we round this corner and we're closer to city hall we'll see if wewhat will meet the protester there's. yesterday a perimeter set up in front of city hall that had been a place where protesters had been gathering intermittently throughout the day. so again, as we turn this corner, we're just blocks away from city

we don't have tremain lee's audio. we're going to go back to chris hayes. chris hayes, we had a clear shot there, we have it right now of the front line of these police officers with their shields having made that move. they have now stopped. >> yeah, they've advanced. they have probably advanced about a hundred feet. from the line before maybe 150 feet. they've also kind of fanned out, so they've formed that crescent there. they've pushed down, the vehicle has fallen behind. they've advanced. projectiles came at them. they've batted their batons against their shields. you can hear them yelling out to each other when a projectile comes in. the officers have been rotating through that have been holding that line for eight or nine hours today. but some of the people -- >> have you seen them make any arrests in the last ten minutes since they began that move? >> i have not seen a single -- i literally have not seen a single arrest all day. there was one moment earlier when police went into the crowd to clear for an ambulance to put someone in that ambulance. b

tremain lee is a national report we are msnbc. he walked with the big march today that started at baltimore's penn station and went to baltimore city hall. thanks for joining us. >> thanks for having me. the protests you were part of today, with can you tell us the character of the protest and what happened when it arrived at its march destination? >> the protest was mood was different as we've seen. it was billed as a march for high school and college students. most bent toward college age, white, black, younger and older. they were excited. they were jubilant marching from penn station to city hall. when they got to city hall they kind of erupted in chants, chants they had been chanting all the way, they eel fight all night and all day for freddie gray. like you said, who knows what happens next. even though people says there seem s to be a normalcy, settling back in, that concerns many, that normal here in baltimore is terrible. when you look at the disparity, economic issues. you go to west baltimore and see how people are liv

. >>> we're joined now by msnbc's tremain lee. what's the situation where you are tonight? >> much like where joy is located now, it's relatively quiet out here, which is much different than what it was about three hours ago, if not less, when hundreds of protesters marched through city hall, marched here, chanted and marched back to penn station. since then, the crowd has largely dissipated. there are few people out here. behind me, there are members of the national guard and police officers here. but one person that i did notice here is thomas battle. he is doj's community relations service. ferguson, after michael brown, new orleans charleston, he was here. and i also spoke to a doj spokesman earlier asking if a.g. lynch would be showing up. that hasn't been determined yet. she's taken office knee deep in this situation. >> tremain, we are seeing some movement of police officers, it's nothing urge going on, they just seem to be resembling and redeploying and certain positions and certain street corners. the protests today, i saw an awful lot of johns hopkins tee shirts o

tremain, what's happening in your position? >> i'm on the opposite side of where ron allen is. the police have essentially cut off the intersection here so protesters and others have started to move from that end of the street and come on this side. it's certainly not tear gas. the smoke we've been wasting in the air, you could feel the burn. this is not burning. if you take a look at the officers, they don't have gas masks on either. the one thingdy hear a few moments ago, still, they're flying into the crowd. i heard a few bangings down the street. it's eerily quiet out here. the crowd has thinned out tremendously to where most of the people on this side are journalists. >> the baltimore police have just tweeted officers are now deploying pepper balls at the aggressive crowd at north avenue and pennsylvania avenue. so the police are taking responsibility for having deployed pepper balls. >> and that makes sense. the way the tear gas in the air, even by secondary contact, it would cause a burn. it is smokey, but it cleared out pretty quickly. >> tremain, does it look like the

tremaine do the people around you know there will be no public report or accounting this week, that the friday deadline is not going to be honored, at least the expectations everybody has had will not be met? >> i'll tell you what chris, i'm not sure what the folks know about that as of yet. it's a huge diverse crowd of several hundred people. now we did march from penn station down to city hall. now crowd around us are marching back towards penn station. as you can see, it's a largely peaceful very diverse crowd. i'm not sure you can hear them they're saying "all day, all night we're going fight for freddie gray". so the particulars may or may not be lost. some folks will come out here for different agendaed different motivations. some of it is about police brutality. some they're looking for direct answers to the freddie gray killing. but again, it's a large diverse crowd here. and one other thing to note. very scant police presence. we haven't seen many. now all the way from penn station originally, there were no police officers lining the blocks. only a few streets are blocked off b

joining me now msnbc national reporter tremain lee. you spent all day with the protesters. there was a huge protest that came right through penn station. what did you see? >> there were several hundred marchers, a more diverse crowd than we've seen in days march from penn station down to city hall. one thing interesting not just the diversity but there was no police presence there. several hundred, maybe 600 students marching peacefully chanting that they're here for forfor for -- in support of freddie gray's family. they gathered at city hall more chanting speakers on the microphone turned back around and marched back to penn station. one thing for certain, things can always begin peacefully. so even the sense is that everything has been peaceful and quiet, what happens tonight when the curfew is enforced? how will police respond to any crowd that gathers? folks are saying go home but there are a number of people out here still carrying signs, young and old, black and white, very diverse. what had been a jubilant and vibrant crowd of several hundred. >> if you were watchin
