iselle has been downgraded to a tropical storm. it's now 50 miles away from hawaii with speeds of 70 miles an hour. hurricane julio has gained in strength and is now a category three hurricane. let's bring in mike tiaibi who is in maui. what is happening there now? >> good morning, dara. when hurricane iselle was downgraded to tropical storm iselle, the first words we heard from an anchor marn on our local aflat is we got lucky. that's the feeling up and down the chain. what looked like two major hurricanes barrelling over the islands one after the other now looks like two tropical storms that are going to be jabbing at the islands with a less destructive distance. now, that's not to say that people up and down the island chain for more than one million people who live in these islands of hawaii have not taken precautions. they've been preparing for days for this. there were two-hour waits in the line to buy water. long lines at gas stations. other food stops and supplies selling out quickly. mostly on the big island. there have be

right now, tropical storm iselle has winds at 50 miles an hour. it has begun to track away from the southern half of the hawaiian islands. we'll switch to a google earth view of the realtime winds. stronger winds off to the east of hurricane julio, but the big island right in here, in the blue, stronger winds up towards maui and christina loren there, west maui seeing those stronger winds as we switch back to those wind gusts and show you the radar view. we are showing those winds. the stronger winds now starting to branch out a little bit further to the north, up around maui and oahu. and the radar view shows you what is left of the circulation center has reemerged off to the west of the big island. and now those spiraling bands of thunderstorms rotating off to the north, impacting waikiki and also up towards maui. you can see these rain totals in the mountains of eastern hawaii and eastern maui, out towards hona, approaching a foot to 15 inches of rain. flooding a serious concern with this storm. it will track away from the hawaiian islands, tha

now another tropical system moving our direction.hen as you can see, across the world we have lots of tropical systems to talk about. but let me first start off with this one that is heading over towards okinawa. this is a strong typhoon now. it was a very strong typhoon. so it did downgrade a little bit, but it could intensify again into a very strong status, packing gusts of about 200 kilometers per hour or even 216 by the time it reaches the southwestern islands of japan. so start to see the high waves about 7 meters or 10 meters by your thursday. and then by saturday, it looks like it will be moving into western locations where the flooding conditions not yet alleviated at all. so very bad news for the dumps of water. again, not only it is going to be directly affecting japan, but the surrounding countries will also see rainfall accumulation because the system is pretty slow. we already have reports of severe flooding in the mega city of the philippines. but again targeted with heavy torrents of rainfall. and not only that, we're

what was tropical storm iselle is now a few showers. we go to hurricane julio now, a category one in the tropical pacific satellite. winds at 9 miles per hour and weakens to the northwest at 16 miles per hour. as you put the forecast animation in, you notice julio will weaken as it moves north of hawaii becoming a tropical storm by tuesday afternoon with winds of 65 miles per hour. hawaii, monday morning waves could be as high as 15 feet. much quieter area back here. i'll have the forecast coming up. >> thank you, drew. >>> tonight investigators are trying to determine if a fire in pittsburgh was caused by illegal fireworks. they were called in before 2:30 this afternoon. when they arrived, flames were closing in by high voltage fire lines. it burned about two acres, a fence was damaged and a resident twisted his ankle. witnesses told firefighters there were explosive sounds before it started. fire investigators say it didn't appear to come from the power lines or transformers so they are looking to see if there are signs of fireworks.
