it is very cold out there, still climbing through the 50s across most of the bay, but 28 still in truckeeey are expecting to stay cold today, along with us in the bay area, sunshine, clear skies as far as the eye can see and the cameras bouncing around a bit off towards the east bay and peninsula, where winds are up to 20 to 30 miles per hour. that's the cold air being pulled in from canada and alaska, usually we get the influence of the tropical air, today and the next few days, looking at cold northerly wind, so our influence will be from the north. and because of that cold air inundating the bay area, we are going to be looking at cold mornings. in fact, between 4:00 in the morning and 9:00 each morning between now and sunday we're going to be looking at temperatures first in the north bay tomorrow and the east bay, coldest temperatures. because of that, black ice on the roads and saturday gets colder. temperatures back into the 20s for the north bay and isolated 20s for the east bay. south bay, you'll be in the mid 30s, anywhere you go except for san francisco, you're going to be look

there was a little rain there in the tahoe, truckee line. this is called banding.n't see this often. you can see that sometimes you are getting very cold air over the warm sea surface temperatures. the unstable air mass is beginning to work its way in and the possibility of thundershowers is associated with that, not only with that line but later today. to the north we are seeing rain begin to pickup. this looks like rain, or as we say a general area of rain, nothing too heavy. cloverdale, 101 to healdsburg and windsor with rain. around morin county it looks like a cell there is beginning to work its way in, as well. kind of hit and miss here. 24-hour rainfall totals, take the area most interest to yourself. novato 8.5. in greenpoint an observer had a friendality the western edge of novato with 11 inches of rain. i believe that. novato was right there -- i mean it poured. that was the main area with the heaviest rain there. antioch and sunnyvale had 4.06, which beat mountainview and moffett which doesn't happen all the time. i mean, you don't see 3 to 4 -- look at

truckee with fog. 53 san jose. 45 minute delays at sfo, and here is the visibility. see how livermore, less than a quarter mile. some problems there, as well as santa rosa. you have been fogged in all morning long and even san carlos. it will take a couple more hours to mix things out, and it will. we are looking for an approaching cold front that will allow for increasing clouds for the north bay. i'll tell you who the cold front will impact and when. the next stronger system comes our way. >> thank you. >>> chaos in the streets of berkeley has led to several arrests overnight during a demonstration to protest deadly incidents in ferguson, missouri and new york involving unarmed black men and police. it wasn't all violent. some protesters stepped in to try to prevent looting and damage to the city. you are looking at video from sky 7hd where police used smoke bombs and teargas to disburse the protesters. it worked to break up the clouds but at times demonstrators threw the canisters back at the police officers. we have a look at some of the damage done on the ground

as folks wake up at south lay tahoe, truckee, resorts, it will be a white christmas with fresh powder on the way for the sierra. the impact of the system past wednesday, the chance of rain increasing during the afternoon. breezy conditions, winds 15 to 30 miles per hour. but look at these high temperatures dropping. close to 68 in san jose tomorrow. now you're looking at upper 50s thursday, friday. and low temperatures in san jose close to 40 degrees on thursday. san francisco seeing temperatures committees tore the water. not as cold, overnight temperatures in the mid 40s. north bay, you'll see those temperatures also cooling quite a bit as we see the chance of rain and breezy conditions for wednesday. those highs thursday through friday for liverpool and santa rosa, dropping into the 50s and low 60s. overnight temperatures, mid to upper 30s. so the winds are light getting into friday morning or saturday morning. it's very possible we could see a little bit of patchy frost as we head into the start of next weekend. next weekend for now looks dry. continued cool conditions as we go th

you can see the roads at truckee. but things are changing.you may want to bring them just in case. here's a live look at westbound 580. it looks great through the livermore valley. the drive time is clear. so it is extra "friday light." maybe folks are taking some time off around the holiday. not sure what's going on. but there's lighter traffic and the roads are dry. later on this evening we have the pac-12 championship so this could cause delays for your evening commute home. kickoff is at 6:00 over at levi's stadium. in addition to the rain you may just want to take mass transit for the extra traffic congestion it will cause. caltrain and vta would be a great choice. all mass transit is on time. >>> i want to walk you through the forecast. this is 3:00 around the bay area. as the storm comes in, this is the tail at the end of the evening commute, so it's obviously everybody won't get rain all at once. that's front that swings through before sun-up tomorrow morning about 7 a.m. so we'll have lingering showers during the early-morning hours.
