u.s. defense department to do. hopefully there will be other responses. now, i agree with general --gson that we cannot really china now has the world's largest coast guard in terms of the number of ships. we cannot really compete with china in terms of patrolling the south china sea. we simply do not have, and none of the other countries in the region have, the assets needed for that. so, our response has to be asymmetric. it is a challenge that hopefully people are working on. it requires some study. there are some talks of economic sanctions and so on. aankly, i think what we did couple of years ago is a good model for this. china has been very aggressively using state-sponsored hackers to try to steal u.s. commercial secrets. asymmetrical response would not make sense. first of all, what they were doing was really illegal. also, they do not have that many secrets for us to steal. so what we said is we were just steal our own secrets back. [laughter] no, we said we will put economic sanctions on you. i'm not saying sanctions are the right response for
