there's a number of questions left unanswered and some very basic ones. the number of shots, for instance, that were fired. the incident report as i mentioned earlier. the name of the officer. and the name of the officer is relevant because it would allow news organizations and others to see if there was some kind of record here. if there's a kind of accountability issue at heart. what are you looking for from ferguson, from st. louis county from officials more broadly? >> chris, really one of the major things we're looking for is the name of the officer. like you just mentioned, we've said locally here if the name comes forward, we can do our own thorough research to find out, is there a history of police brutality with this officer? does he have a history of abuse? does he have a history of having common problems within the local neighborhood with residents. that's very important. the other thung that we're looking for is an uninterrupted thorough investigation that's unbiased. we want to ensure that the prosecuting attorney is on the job and that he is

. >> and so many unanswered ones still. thanks so much, steph. >>> new at 11:00, santa clara county is reporting this year's first case of west nile virus in humans. five residents in the county have been infected with the virus. two had the more severe, invasive form of the disease. one had west nile fever. the two others have no symptoms. last year, there were only two human cases of west nile virus in the county. health officials warn the risk of getting west nile virus will be especially high over the next two months. >> san jose police hope to learn more today about the woman who was shot and killed by officers after they say she threatened them. this cell phone video taken in south san jose shows the woman pointing what appears to be a gun at officers. in the video, the officers tell her several times the to drop the weapon and put her hands up. she did not. and officers shot her. that weapon turned out to be a cordless power drill, which was painted black. this is a picture of that drill, released by police. a 911 ca

there's still so many unanswered questions.ack with me now, judge glenda hatchet, reverend wilbur purvis. so we were talking about a distrust in many black communities as it pertains to the relationship with police officers. so now i wonder, pastor purvis, if this only worsens the situation, since it's not just ferguson, missouri, but this kind of strained relationship between the community and police is multiplied many times over, how does this worsen it? >> well, it magnifies because we're on a national, i dare say, an international stage. but again, i think we must now come together and begin to have this real dialogue that i mentioned a few moments ago about how do we fix it. i think one of the important things as relates to us is we must raise the standard of what we expect and what the perception of african-american men. we've got to help america realize that every time you see a black male that you don't automatically think thug, you don't automatically think criminal, you don't automatically think dropout, you don't aut

. >>> a key question remains unanswered at this hour, was it a deadly accident or was a man pushed off of a freeway overpass. it happened on the industrial parkway overpass on 880 in hayward this morning. the investigation shut down part of 880 causing a very slow morning commute. the backup as you can see from our nbc chopper reached as far north as oakland. michelle roberts joins us from the hayward police station with the details. michelle? >> reporter: raj, i just spoke to an officer a short time ago. he said there's not much information he can give at this point. investigators have been trying to solve this case, they've been asking a lot of questions to witnesses, and people who knew the victim. let's take a look at the scene this morning on 880. it caused a huge delay this morning. just before 5:00 a.m. chp was called to 880 south in hayward where a man was hit by a car, after he somehow went over the guardrail, on the industrial parkway overpass. hayward police took over the investigation which could possibly be a homicide. police aren't releasing the victim's name, but i did t
