we've had the opportunity to work in large urban cities such as atlanta, las vegas, los angeles. we've worked in santa clara, and we've also worked in rural communities as well, mendocino, sonoma, and other spots. in 2013 we provided technical assistance and direct assistance and point in time counts in other communities in california as well as san francisco. those include sonoma, monterey, santa cruz, san luis obispo, and santa clara counties. so, we've got a pretty good field for the methodological issues and doing the counts and we brought aboard in san francisco to help bring some best practice ideas in a technical assistance fashion. we think that it's important, as was mentioned by both trent and bevan, to be data driven and having good consistent and quality data is really important to be able to see the trends and see the impacts of various intervention strategies. so, as we evaluated the san francisco strategies, there's a lot of good things, good best practices that are in place. one of which is 100% canvassing of the entire city. in the early stages of your pet counts

so you're saying the same thing happens in the cities what about the suburban versus urban we've got these suburban areas that are not quite cities. and they're highly dependent on vehicles what do we do with. well i mean this is the big question you know a lot of urban planners in the u.s. would like to reverse the trend toward suburbanization and there's there's a lot of demographic and economic factors that are actually started to make suburbs less attractive for lots of different groups for people who need health care and can't drive themselves into the age of two young people who want to different lifestyle but i think a lot of these technologies are actually going to extend the viability of suburbs by making. surface transportation more efficient by helping manage traffic congestion there is even a study that i saw that came out of a european research group that was arguing that suburban dad. city is actually the best land use pattern for. large scale distributed solar production because you have the surface area on the rooftops that you need to actually produce the power and so

we had another urban ipm conference we co-sponsored, the city of crest and parks conservancy and many thanks to them for helping out in that effort. based on the design training which is the first of its kind in san francisco, we had this past year, and every year we have a complete round of annual pesticide safety and ipm trainings for anyone who is remotely involved with pesticides. and, of course, our monthly meetings at the ipm technical advisory committee which it's about 10 times a year is what it amounts to. i also wanted to mention we launched a project to turn the pest prevention by design guidelines into a lead pilot credit. so, this is what the u.s. green building council, we're using the same national committee that helped put this -- these guidelines together to try to turn it into something that's permanently enshined in leed. so, i'm crossing my fingers about that one. and as i mentioned, we completed, i put quotes around that. we completed the [speaker not understood] database. there are still some big improvements that need to happen, but we have the data now. and whi
