so i spoke with robert degroot of the usgs earthquake science center, who says a few memorable quakes in a row isn't necessarily a sign of things to come. >> this is just what's happening on a normal basis, but yet not to be ignored. people shouldot know how to protect themselves. we live in earthquake country and these events are part of living in california. we have on the order of 50 earthquakes a day. >> yeah, i didn't know that. degroot says the earthquakes do serve as a reminder to have your preparedness kit ready, and to sign up for the shakealert earthquake early warning system. it was the first full weekend for crab sales right off the boat in san francisco. crabbers at fisherman's wharf say the catch isn't big in quantity, but it is excellent in quality. each crab averages about 2 pounds. they're selling for $12 a pound. usually crabbing season starts in the middle of november, but it didn't open until last sunday. in order to protect migrating whales. about that. yeah. getting back to that earthquake story, though, i really didn't know 50 a day. they just happened to be so
