. >>> away christmas surprise for a family in vallejo. major praise for him and will dispatcher who helps deliver a baby over the phone. she reported her great- granddaughter was going into labor at home, and tonight we are hearing from the two women who helped bring that little boy into this world. >> reporter: it was here at this house in vallejo where she suddenly went into labor the day after christmas. her great-grandmother called 911, and dispatcher susan hart took over. >> i ask, are we seeing any part of the baby? and she says yes. so we stard just making sure that everybody remained somewhat calm. >> they started giving us instructions. and we followed the instructions, and i placed my hand where she told me, so the baby, when it came out, the head would be supported, my hand would support the baby's head. >> reporter: six minutes into the call, and a brand-new baby boy was wrapped in his mother's arms. >> you could hear the sirens coming, so before the paramedics to get down to it, the baby does pops out. >> they were so encoura

this happened christmas eve night in vallejo on ohio and mariposa streets. melanie woodrow spoke with neighbors who crawled to their bathroom for safety while bullets pierced their home from the outside. >> reporter: kendra black and her fiance glenn say this is the last christmas they'll spend here. they're moving after bullets entered their home from outside christmas eve. >> everyone was just screaming. >> reporter: one bullet in the direct path of kendra's dad got lodged in the wall. >> it went through and hit him. the second one hit through here, broke through the curtain rod and exited through -- over there. >> reporter: did you think you were going to die? >> i honestly thought so because the bullet flew through our faces about this far in front of me and my brother's face. >> reporter: later they learned a 6-year-old was shot in the torso. when vallejo police arrived, the 6-year-old victim was already gone, taken to a local hospital perhaps by a family member in a private vehicle he. >> i'm praying this boy makes it. >> reporter: so are neighbors. >>

the county sheriff's office says that a fight inside an unincorporated vallejo home took an unexpected turn. jackie ward is live. >> authorities vp spent all night and most of the mornings. they say that crime scene started inside one of these homes and spilled out on to the street. >> i heard cars close, and then i looked outside. i looked like third world country here. all these cars and police cars. and i looked over this and i thought, what the heck happened? >> just after hit might. the solano county sher ever were tall to this unincorporated neighborhood in solano county. someone inside these homes called 911 just as the fight was landly escalating. at this point, it's unclear who was arguing. irma matthews has lived here since 1968 and says this is surprising. >> i feel so bad for the people. this is such a bad type of the year for this to happen. >> reporter: two people inside were found dead. a woman was found inside with head injury. she is treated. >> reports came out that a woman had been shot in the head and then us it appears that she had been assault. > we don't know wha

it's backed up from vallejo back past crockett. drivers are advised to use the venetia bridge. we're also learning that 2 shooting suspects are in custody tonight after leading police on a chase from san mateo down to fremont. police say it began when they found a man shot in the leg along north amflett boulevard, blocks away from where gunfire rang out. >> the officers located some shell cangs si t investigation from there. >> soon police found 2 suspects and chased them over 20 miles. it all came to an end in fremont when the car crashed. police arrested the occupants. a 19-year-old woman and the 21-year-old driver. the shooting victim is being treated at a trauma center tonight. >>> tonight investigators are trying to solve the mystery of a car that plunged off a cliff near devil's slide. kpix's joe vazquez is there. >> reporter: this is a mystery with very few clues, but here's one of them. you see the tire tracks here. officials say these may be the tracks of a car that went over the cliff around 11:00 this morning. the problem is, they've not been able to find a car down

vallejo police asking for the public's help. >>> the mount diablo school district is trying to collect money after they accidentally overpaid hundreds of retired special ed assistants who were working as substitutes for the district. the workers received notice instructing them to repay the extra min. >> reporter: the district covers concord, craton, pleasant oil. the workers overpaid are not responsible, and some say they should not be required to pay back the money. she says it's the district's fault. the district says it's illegal not to require repayment. hundreds of district workers do substitution work after retirement. they will now be forced to pay up to thousands of dollars back to the district for being overpaid. a retired special education assistant says those impacted do a variety of jobs, including campus supervisors and cafeteria workers. all are members of the california members school employee association. teachers are not affected. >> i'm outaged. outraged. when they audit me, i'm gonna owe mistaken payment resulted when a state law went into effect in 2013 that change
