using inland valleys, tri valley, diablo valley, think of the inland valleys, average high would be 88we were pretty much there yesterday. yesterday it was 86. we have been doing that for a while. you have been there for the last week and a half solid. receipts see how this changes. look at the line. by today's daytime high it's already 97. that's an 11-degree warm up from yesterday to today. then we will keep it going. daytime highs will peak saturday. that's when this heat wave will top out. sunday looks rough as well but you will see better news by early next week. daytime highs monday and tuesday will look so much better. notice the areas that have this and that don't. here is our spotlight. notice east bay shoreline is not included. it will be noticeably warmer but not too terribly hot. in the north bay it's mainly in the mountains. daytime highs, low to mid 80s in the south bay. fremont will hit 86. union city hits 80. here is that 97. walnut creek is not much better at 96. it is only 68 in berkeley today, 73 san leandro, low 90s for sonoma county. we'll see temperatures that cli

i think some of the inland valleys in the east bay are eventually going to be included within this, ifit's a rated to an excessive heat wording that would continue tomorrow. temperatures well into the 90s if not 100 degrees in some of the traditional hotspots like fairfield, antioch and brentwood, temperatures in the low 60s along the coast but we are talking a 40 degrees spread and highs tomorrow, a bradys in the north bay, a bradys in the santa clara valley come well into the 90s for the tri valley but the hotspots around 100 degrees for antioch and brentwood and tomorrow is not even the hottest day that we are going to see during this stretch of hot weather. no record-setting temperatures. the folks inland are definitely going to be sweating. take out the full forecast in just a few minutes. >>> mandatory evacuations in mendocino county, where a brush fire has burned at least one structuring the redwood valley area. cal fire says at least 50 acres have burned. this video from press democrat photojournalist ken porter shows the fire ripping through a building. new word on how it star

it was felt all the way up to the sacramento valley, also the san joaquin valley, and out toward the bay area. once again, a five to six is a moderate to strong earthquake, and this is concerning. we're seeing a lot of the aftershocks in this situation here, but we're hoping that was the strongest of it, and the ones that follow will continue to remain below that 5.9. so far, looking at the usgs. they have been under 5.9. the largest has been 5.9. >> sandhya, a couple of points. one, we know there have now been 25 , so more aftershocks have happened since he presented that information, and dr. lisi jones, that has been putting out great information now with caltech, a longtime geologist, automated system he said automatic systems that locate quick sometimes get confused. initially, people were reporting it as one in smith valley, 1.9, and a 4.8 in farmington near the san joaquin county area. now, they have taken the one from stockton county away. cheez-it automatic systems do get confused, especially since there are very few stations in that area, right? and we talked about that, how

and some of our inland east valleys. another temperature check after 6:00, still in the triple digits there. walnut creek, 102 degrees. 106 earlier. notice the humidity, only 12%. high pressure acting like a giant heat lamp over the bay area, not only heating things up, it's drying things out. low humidity and the late day sea breeze which is picking up across the inland east bay. very close to 100 degrees, still 99 in livermore, humidity at 12%. a very different story beginning in san jose. cooler than expected here. 80 degrees, northwest wind at 12. notice the humidity, that's the marine air influence, cooling the northern half of the santa clara valley. you still have upper 90s away from san jose. san francisco, 62 degrees. strong high pressure basically flattening that marine air down to less than a thousand feet. in that layer you've got temperatures in the 50s and 60s. the top of mt. tam and higher, air temperatures are in the 70s, 80s, even 90s. most of the cooling is being confined to the inner bay right now. eve

look at santa clara valley, mid-90s in morgan hill. we will see highs in san jose warmer, reaching mid-80s today. we could see highs up to 101 in antioch. livermore will be in the mid-90s, and we will see upper 70s for a high today in hayward. keeping it cool in half moon bay, 64 there. 80 in redwood city. more sunshine on the other side of the hills there. for san francisco reaching 70 downtown, and our north bay high reaching 90 in novato, but ukiah reaching 104 today and that's where the excessive heat warnings will be going up tomorrow. the high pressure will continue to get pressure and will be slow to move, so it will feel more like the central valley and parts of the bay area as the heat ramps up. look at the wind direction around the high pressure, like a southerly wind. the ocean breeze will be so weak, it doesn't help us outgoing across the peninsula and parts of the bay. take a look at your forecast. we're going to reach possibly up to 111 degrees on saturday. be prepared for that. this is dangerous heat we will see as we go

we have a heat advisory in effect for the northbay valleys and the santa clara valley. those are the orange shaded areas where temperatures are going to reach into the mid to upper 90s, even around 100 degrees. temperatures likely to reach well over 100 degrees within the excessive heat warnings. that's the pink shaded areas, including all the higher elevations of the bay area, but also all of the inland east bay. it's a sampling of tomorrow's high temperatures. san jose 94, santa rosa 100, concord 106, same for livermore and brentwood up to 110 degrees. the good news is temperatures are still going to be hot on sunday, the warning goes through 11:00 on sunday. they'll start to back off a little bit someday with some relief on the way next week and we'll talk about that coming up in a few minutes, along with a look at when we are going to -- how high temperatures are going to be across the rest of the bay area tomorrow, more than just these five locations. >> cooking out there now. >>> we are all being urged to conserve electricity right now to keep the power grid going

the very coolest spot in the northbay valleys dropping into the upper 40s.the warmest spot even getting below 60 degrees at antioch and brentwood and then temperatures warm up. just a matter of how much. low 60s likely in san francisco with an early morning fog taking a little bit of time to dissipate but it should be gone by noon and we see plenty of sunshine into this time tomorrow evening. santa rosa warms up into the mid-80s, about where you are today. plenty of sunshine throughout the day. concord plenty of sunshine with slightly warmer temperatures getting up close to 90 degrees but i think you'll be just a couple degrees cooler than today's high temperature of 92. san jose in the upper 70s today, back into the upper 70s tomorrow. just a few degrees below what's typical for the middle of july. other high temperatures also pretty close to typical for this time of year, close to 60 along the coast, mostly 60s with a few 70s sprinkled around the bay, upper 70s for san jose and into the low to mid 80s as you go farther into the santa clara valley. upper 70
