this is hayden valley.e to one of the most iconic animals in us history. the great american bison. weighing up to a ton and standing six feet tall at the hump, these are the largest mammals in north america. and the yellowstone herd are the only pure descendants left of the asian bison who migrated across the land bridge to north america 400,000 years ago. and in july and august, right when the hayden party was making their way down these hills, dust fills the air in the valley. the bison rut is underway. female bison tend to mate with the most dominant bulls. this wallowing behavior by the males is a display of power and aggression. during the mating season, each pool will lose around 200 pounds, dedicating all his time and energy to performing for the potential mates. it's an interesting ritual, but highly effective because in yellowstone the bison are thriving and every year more and more of these wooly giants roam the valley. fortunately, mother nature has her own way of balancing the ecosystem. and whi

next couple of mornings santa clara valley, tri-valley and interior north bay valleys with mid 30s inomorrow morning but with more sunshine. should see better temperatures tomorrow. mid 60s near san jose and low 60s around san francisco and oakland. but big concerns again to the south. strong gusty offshore winds around southern california. we're going to see a round of high wind warnings and red flag warnings. and fortunately back across southern california due to this gusty dry wind pattern that we have of high pressure to the north and it's still blocking incoming storms, next chance we might see a few showers would be on saturday, but with that, low tracking inland may not have a lot of moisture with it. so an optimistic view is calling for a few showers on saturday, but honestly, it looks cooler and breezy. we need those storms to come across the pacific to get us a better chance of seeing some rain. s in the short term, we've got the wind advisories for the hills. frost advisories for the valleys. a little bit of a midweek warm up, and stay tuned as we head towards nex saturday.

this includes san jose tri-valley up towards those north bay valleys. and then as we start to see the sunshine and the warmer temperatures tomorrow afternoon, less low clouds, lingering means mostly 60s for highs tomorrow. mid 60s around san jose, close to 60 in san francisco and oakland. now unfortunately, as we talked about high wind warning, red flag warnings back for southern california, we could see mountain wind gusts above 75mph northwest of la into ventura county. so you got the high wind warnings there south of the grapevine and red flag warnings east of santa barbara, around los angeles, through orange county to east of san diego. next two days, locked in by this dry pattern, which continues to be breezy at times, might see a slight chance of showers as we head into next weekend, but notice how high pressure continues to block incoming storms trying to bring some relief to that fire danger to the west coast. so as you see here, we've got temperatures around san francisco staying in the 60s, and for inland areas, we've got a warm up on the way.

another one already prepped for tomorrow morning for the north bay, the inland valleys, santa clara valleye santa cruz mountains. overnight temperatures will be dropping off into the 30s once again, so a big area of high pressure over a good portion of the west coast that is keeping us dry. no big changes for today. a chilly morning, a mild afternoon, and then into your friday. this front wants to approach northern california. this will not bring us any rainfall, but it will bring in some more clouds and also send temperatures down by just a few degrees as we do move into your friday. so here we are this afternoon. we have some hazy sunshine out there. and then into your friday morning we'll thicken up the clouds throughout the morning hours, and then partly sunny skies into the afternoon hours. maybe some fog first thing saturday morning to start off the weekend, especially out toward the central valley and then clearing into the afternoon hours for your saturday. and then on sunday we could have a repeat pattern once again. highs this afternoon will be in the most areas in the low to mid

and we have a frost advisory, in effect, cold temperatures for the inland valleys. and we are down to 36 degrees in walnut creek this morning. may be frosty on some of those elevated surfaces as you're heading out. palo alto at 39 degrees and it's 42. in san jose we're seeing low 40s as well in san francisco. the wind is calm. we will have another sunny day and temperatures warming up well above what's normal for this time of year. we're up to 62 degrees in napa. novato, as well as san francisco and half moon bay. and 64 today in dublin and livermore, while san jose is back to the upper 60s. mike, it's thursday, but it seems like traffic is light. yeah it is. you know, we're probably going to see light traffic as we approach that three day holiday weekend. we tend to see fewer folks driving in the early morning commute. bay bridge crystal clear, easy flow of traffic. you're at speed on the approach to the area as well. as we look to the north, we're looking at highway 37. eastbound was shut down overnight, and it will continue to do that through the end of february

and you've spent a lot of time in silicon valley. and i wanted to ask you a question about the culture of silicon valley. on one hand, there is this libertarian and ideology exists in silicon valley. we're also seeing on the ai front calls for regulation. and then also a lot of people are in silicon valley, are making you know what i think are extreme statements about, ai being a human extinction level event and raising lot of alarms. so is this the how do you explain the between calling for regulation in ai and then the cyber libertarian roots and is the culture changing or is this a new framing to achieve the same results? it's a great question. so i think there are still quite a number of technologists that want to use technology to improve over the protection of civil liberties. think about strong encryption for protection of privacy for example and in that sense they are suspicious of the state because. they say the state is going to use for surveillance. we don't want this. so we're going to build a remedy this in the technolog
