you're looking at cars, these are all coming from the central valley and the tri-valley area. that expresse with the orange barrels and pylons is not open yet. then if you shift over into the eastbound direction, that new -- those two new express lanes are open. of course, the traffic is lighter because that's the opposite commute direction. now, we just took a drive on eastbound 580 along the 14-mile stretch where the two new express lanes opened up this morning. this runs from livermore, pleasanton, and dublin. now, the new lanes operated from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. monday through friday. if you are a solo driver and want to use these lanes, you will be charged a toll based on the traffic. we just checked. it was around 7 a.m. and it cost 30 cents. if you carpool in or are in a clean air vehicle, bus or motorcycle the lanes are free to use. but you do need to get a fast track flex tag. this is a new type of fast track where it designates when you are in a commuter mode. the west lanes will open monday morning. that will help with the congestion with the morning commute and everyone coming in f
