jay gray is live in venice, louisiana, this morning, one of the hardest hit areas by the tragedy. how is the region recovering so far, jay? >> reporter: good morning to you, laura. it's been very difficult for so many who live and make their living off of the water down here in south louisiana. look, there's still oil in the water, but a bigger problem now seems to be perception. a lot of the fishermen that used to come to this area, the tourists that go to the beaches in florida, mississippi and alabama are staying away right now. they have seen the pictures of the oil. they don't know about the cleanup and they're not spending their money here. the current estimate is that the loss in tourism revenues will reach $22 billion. that's about a "b" by next year. that's really crippling to this region. there is also the problem of the seafood industry. they are beginning to catch seafood. the fishermen, the shrimpers and the oystermen, but the customers aren't coming back to the table at this point. even though it's the most rigorously tested food in the world right now. we're now beg
