veronica johnson has our fast forecast from storm center 4.on't want to know the answer. >> it is not going to be bad. amazing weather for early july. you are right. take a look outside. we have a few cumulus clouds there. on the other side after weather front through the area today. temperature is 79 degree, dune from 82, light p wind out of the north at nbc 4. fredericksburg, virginia, 88 degrees now with the westerly wind. also, light at just three miles per hour. upper 07s right around 80, again. unbelievable really for early july. clouds drifting through and in a north-northwesterly wind. that's what we will have oar the next couple of hours. still comfortable. clouds will leave the area by midnight and down to about 75 degrees. so a clear and comfortable evening on your fast forecast. we may have a shower or two well off to the west of the area tomorrow in those 90s we were forecasting, they could be vanishing, vanishing away. we will talk about how we will get in a few minutes. >>> when "news4 at 4:00" continues, it was not your typical

meteorologist veronica johnson's live up in storm center 4 with more on this severe weather threat. veronica? >> thanks, jim. no severe thunderstorm warnings across the area. still quite a bit of light new england. most of which still moving through the maryland area. let me show you where on digital doppler right there, one cell heading through nohern howard county. carroll county stretching off to the east and moving northeast at about 10 to 15 miles per hour. and there is another little pocket of lightning there in eastern prince george's county right now. it is around the mitchellville area. again, heading there towards mitchellville and eventually making its way towards anne arundel county. then we have another cell that's for out. this one in jefferson county in west virginia. so remember, you know, lightning safety tips, 30/30 rule. one of the most underrated weather hazards. very unpredictable. there are things you can do to keep safe. you want to seek shelter when you can avoid the metal of wood, fences, 30/30 rule p seek shelter if the flash-to-bang del say 30 seconds or le

veronica johnson has our fast forecast now. >> hey there, jim. awfully steamy out there, just like this past weekend. though today no thunderstorms across the area. look at yesterday. there was severe weather across the area. loudoun county, reports of hail. and there were trees down. same thing for western howard county, repts of hail. so today, a much quieter day down to the south of our area. there is a severe thunderstorm watch until 8:00 p.m. you can see how those storms building and sliding to the north and east. so for our area, i think it's going to be quiet. 90 degrees the temperature right now. or at least the heat index, what it feels like. there's a possibility just south of the area where we could have a thunderstorm sliding through. other than that, though, it's going to be awfully steamy and sticky for the evening for sure for the next couple of days, too. especially tomorrow. we'll talk about how hot it's going to get and what about more strong thunderstorms this week? we'll take a look at the seven-day forecast in a few minutes.

veronica johnson here in storm center 4. the storms moving northward. will be heading north and northeastward. that's where the leading edge of the showers are, over to stafford county moving northward. wet weather coming up for the evening rush. and up until about 10:00 p.m. tonight as this heads northward up into baltimore and aberdeen. 81 is the temperature. so it's not that hot across the area. lots of cloud cover today. today will be on par with today. about 81. 82 degrees. but we'll have more sunshine across the area. especially during the afternoon. and for tomorrow afternoon, a chance for more thunderstorms. so for your good night wake-up forecast, 9:00, the possibility of showers across the area. same thing at 11:00 p.m. first thing tomorrow morning, first thing tuesday, partly sunny skies. temperatures at 78 degrees. later tonight, cool spots at 61. last night, there were a few locations around western maryland, oakland and cumberland that dropped to the mid-50s. could be on the cool side. 82 the high for tomorrow. we get a break on wednesday.

veronica johnson, storm center 4. you can see the haze across the area.today temperatures staying shy of the 90-degree mark. we only had nine 90-degree-plus days. last year we had 22 and 14 of those days were during the month of july. much quieter compared to yesterday. in and around the beltway, montgomery county, prince george's county, charles county, prince william county, quiet now on radar. there are a few showers off to the west. west of i-81 moving up to areas around petersburg and kaiser and eventually getting more up around winchester areas of virginia. so there are showers out there. we may see a few of our own just showers, no thunderstorms coming our way later this evening. 85 degrees, the temperature now. it is 88 in manassas. frederick, too. little bit of heat out there. little likely to get into the upper 80s again tomorrow. we will start the day tomorrow at 74, 75 degrees with some partly sunny skies across the area. it will still be hazy and plenty humid and we will have plenty of fuel for some downpours tomorrow with the thunderstorms t
