>> vianey, we'll see you in about 15. thanks so much. >>> we begin this morning in oakland where hundreds of people peacefully demonstrated last night in support of the ongoing movement in portland. ever since george floyd's killing two months ago, but it turned destructive last might when outliers set a fire at the alameda county courthouse. here are the flames burning at the courthouse on 12th street in downtown oakland right near lake merritt. it all happened around 10:00 last night. video was posted to social media of the superior courthouse entrance. you could see filled with flames and smoke. hat area. courthouse is not yet clear. and it appears another group of protesters broke off from the mostly peaceful demonstration and vandalized this oakland police station. oakland pd tweeted pleading with organizers to keep the protests peaceful. this after windows to the front entrance of the station were shattered and the building graffitied. fireworks were set off there. officers in helicopters were targeted with lasers.

mike keeping his eyes on the road for us this morning and vianey in for kari. how will we start out with this weather? >> we have the return of the marine layer and been seeing this for the past couple mornings and we'll see it for the first half. temperatures in san francisco 57 and palo alto 59 and also made its way in when it comes to oakland, concord, napa and even through fairfield is starting to see some fog. we'll see that sticking around for the first half and then a lot slower to clear in areas like half moon bay, san francisco. by about 3:00 when we typically start to see peak temperatures. temperatures in the 80s in south bay and valleys. definitely going to be cool around the coast and cloudy at least for the majority of the day with peaks of sunshine expected for the afternoon. i'll have a closer look at your full forecast coming up in a few minutes. mike? >> all right. vianey. the overall commute and i've circled the slowing that just about cleared for north 101. but in the last couple seconds, the crash reported around oakland road and 880 and de

vianey arana joins us with a look at your microclimate forecast. hi, vianey. >>> hi there, kira. it's going to be such a nice day. starting with mostly clear skies. you can see the low clouds hanging out over san francisco. the big topic today will be just how hot it's going to get. for the first half of our morning, which is between now and 11:00 a.m., we remain mild in the 60s and 70s. look at how quickly we warm up. between 1:00 and 3:00 we'll start to see the peak heat. check out the south bay, 90s. where you see the purple hues, triple digit temperatures for areas like concord, fairfield and antioch through the afternoon. we're still seeing the high pressure dominating over the area. as you know anytime we see high pressure with hot temperatures it also drives us out. we'll see an increase in onshore winds this afternoon to breezy and gusty at times. pair that up with dry conditions, and that means elevat less than 20%. i'll be monitoring closely. back to you, see you soon, vian. this past wednesday coronavirus deaths surged to a record high across california and here in the

vianey arana has a look at your microclimate forecast. hey, vianey. >>> good morning, kira.re, 56 degrees right now in san francisco. so we're waking up to comfortable temperatures. we'll see overall a lot of sunshine today, wind speeds at about 17 miles per hour and in through san jose, 59 degrees right now. again, wind speeds have calmed down. we're going to see a shift in the winds with onshore winds increasing this evening. today's microclimate highs will be in the 80s and 90s and, yes, another day of the 70s. for san francisco a little warmer around the peninsula. the heat even managed to make its way there. i do want to talk about the fire danger and how today's air quality is doing at 7:00 a.m. kira? >>> we'll see you at 7:00, as vianey mentioned fires abound in san jose. firefighters are battling a fire near japantown along 101. the fire put up a lot of smoke. no word on what sparked it, but we were able to see the fire from one of our traffic cameras. you can see the flames and the smoke on the left side of the screen. the fire is still burning close to southbound 1

vianey arana, what do you got?> you know, that's a great question, terry, because you are absolutely right. any time we talk about, you know, the weather and fires, you don't want to see the low humidity and you don't want to see the winds, but that's what we saw today. those dry conditions are expected to come in tomorrow. it looks like we will still keep the winds heading into tomorrow. they have calmed down right now, but then they will pick up again tomorrow. let's go through that timing. right now it is 57 degrees. wind speed around 15 miles an hour. check out san jose. hit a high of 86 this afternoon. but we were just seeing a couple of gusty areas at times, and then it sort of picking up. but right now the wind speeds are calm which is good because it will aid in that fire. wall net creek 94 degrees the high for today. take a look at your temperature difference compared to the last 24 hours. now we're seeing an increase in the onshore winds. expect to see the rebuilding of that marine layer. that will bring

. >> vianey held it down for you while you were gone. >> that's good. that's my girl. >>> let's get a look at our forecast as we start out on this monday morning. we're seeing high clouds moving by, and as we are starting out with these clouds we will see it holding down the temperature for at least a few hours, but we have these drifts of smoke coming in from the mineral fire that's just to the west of fresno. coming through the central valley into the bay area making it up to the north bay. it's been higher up in the atmosphere so it kind of gives us a hazy view of the sunshine but it hasn't affected our air quality as much. and we'll see it also in the east bay as well as santa clara valley. here is what's going on. we see where the mineral fire is now and that smoke moves through the central valley up into the south bay and east bay. once that onshore wind flow our ocean breeze kicks in and pushes that wildfire smoke further off to the east. so we're going to see that happening again today. the worst of the air quality will be during those early hou
