vianey arana is watching that forecast for us.re do we currently stand across the state of california? here is a close look at some of the largest reservoirs. right now we're at 28.7% of total capacity. that leaves us at about 51% of average and, also, we had a record dry january, february and march. the lack of rainfall definitely did not help. we're still under an extreme drought and even our large reservoirs less than 40% down to about 34% for lake oroville, 44% and trinity lake 22%. this does impact us in many ways. the lack of rainfall, also the winter months heading into the snowpack will be something we will continue to monitor very closely as we head in towards january and february as well. now let's see how the roads are doing. an update with mike. >> trying to give folks a warning about slower drives ahead. we know about this, it's right on schedule. west 580 is slow. yesterday it was a different pattern because of a crash. this morning we're back to normal. that's why i just showed you with the camera. the better news f

i'm kira klapper and meteorologist vianey arana has a look at the microclimate forecast and that's all we can think about. >> it's been beautiful so far when they've done their rehearsals and all of that. so if you'll be out and about in the city, layers will be the key today as we start out in the 50s, but let's take a look at some of the timing when it comes to the temperatures and the wind and of course, the fog. right now we're in the 50s and we're seeing the marine layer, but if you look at about 10:15. we'll still get the cloud cover and the daytime highs in the 50s and the winds will be light and notice by 1:30 and we'll get the breaks of sunshine and we'll climb up when it comes to the temperatures into the 60s. so if you'll be out in the city expect a high in the upper 60s and eventually we'll get the sunshine that peeks through and the best viewing area will be the embarcadero. i'll have a look at how the rest of your bay area is doing when it comes to your weather coming up in a few minutes. >> vianey, thanks. >> we begin with breaking news. police are investigating a shooti

meteorologist vianey arana is here with that and 58 this morning in san jose. >> it's pretty nice.f she will find a staircase to recreate that pivot scene she was talking about with the couch. let's talk about downtown san jose, it looks very fall-like with that orange glow and the cloud cover already starting to move out. if you look at the temperatures right now, we are in the 50s, so pretty mild overall and we do have just a slight area of change in temperature up through novato, about 2 degrees cooler. we will talk more about your extended outlook and another look at that drought monitor in a few minutes. first let's talk about traffic with mike. it's busy. >>> i'm looking at some of these aggressive lane changes. the taillights westbound a steady flow but steady build. this is 92 across the san mateo bridge. we still see pretty much green -- oh, the sensors changed mid span, theres that build. dumbarton bridge slow and some folks try to take a lighter route. the rest of the bay a smooth flow. a build for the tri-valley and 680, and contra costa county slow a half o hour over t

. >> meteorologist vianey arana is here in for kari. she's got a look at our forecast. >> we've also been seeing drizzle around the coastline which is great when it comes to any sort of fire concerns, it helps keep the moisture. but for october, this has actually been really foggy, not normal for this season. let's take a look at how we'll be shaping out over the next couple of hours, because if you look at the skies over walnut creek, we will eventually get sunshine. i'll get to your temperature trend in a second. current temperatures, we've got a range of 50s, 60s and even a 75 through vacaville. if you notice, san jose at about 59 degrees. down through the south bay we are going to be running just a few degrees cooler, and take a look at the fog. so we've still got areas through novato, down through half moon bay, clearing out a little bit through san jose. your daytime highs will eventually clear out with the sunshine for inland areas. it's going to be a lot slower to clear around the coastline. i'll get to your seven-day extended o

meteorologist vianey arana is here this morning too with a look at your microclimate forecast. so fleet week's a big deal. carl stole the show yesterday. what do you think about today? >> that's one thing we've been monitoring, the timing of when they go up in the air, the blue jays and when the fog decides to make its exit. right now, we have that marine layer. and it is pretty deep. you can see the visibility, down to about a mile in santa rosa. down through half moon bay, three miles. but it's even managed to make its way down through portions of the south bay. take a look at san jose, six miles.

let's check in with vianey arana in for kari this morning. >>> it will be similar to yesterday. a little bit more of a sea breeze and some slight cooling. the fog isn't as dense today because of the depth of it. the temperatures right now in the 50s in san mateo, 57 degrees. san jose, 59. as you head out the door we're starting out in the 50s. eventually we'll climb to more seasonable temperatures. some areas where the fog is dense, not where. we are going to see down to about a mile of visibility through parts of santa rosa. notice in through san francisco down to about seven miles and areas along half moon bay three miles. we'll talk more on how long it will linger. >>> one person seriously injured after a solo roll over crash in livermore. take a look at the wreckage against the outside of an apartment complex. it happened a little after 11:00 last night. firefighters say the driver was ejected. so far there's no update on

all right, let's check in with meteorologist vianey arana for a look at our microclimate forecast. still dark out there. >> i know, i was looking for some sunshine in our live cameras to show but it is still very dark out. and we are looking at a system right now. you can already see it on satellite radar that is going to be bringing those gusty conditions. take a look at this. you can see that kind of pushing down. it is a frontal system. it's also going to cool us off. just to give you an idea, our current temperatures are in the 60s and the 50s. we've got some areas of fog through half moon bay and san jose. the big story today is going to be the gusty winds around the coastline especially. a wind advisory goes into effect starting at 11:00 a.m. we're talking about winds upwards of 40 plus miles per hour. not a good beach day today. i'll guide you through all of this coming up in just a few minutes. >>> another hit and run in the south bay, the search is on for the driver who hit a woman crossing the street and then took off. it happened just after last night near blossom hill r

meteorologist vianey arana is here with weather. trick-or-treating counting on you for tomorrow. >> it will be a little chilly, depending how late you'll be out and about and also, probably notice it's foggy and cloudy. feels spooky in downtown san jose. now, as far as temperatures go, we have more fog than yesterday. we have limited visibility down to a quarter of a mile in san to -- santa rosa. what does that mean for temperatures? right now, chilly spots in the 40s and 50s but because of the blanket of fog, we're running a few degrees warmer than yesterday. look at this, areas in san carlos nine degrees warmer, san jose ten degrees warmer. coming up in the forecast, i'll guide you through the important holiday forecast in a few minutes. >> thank you. >> we have breaking news from overnight. san jose police investigating two shootings, the first one on kaufman court. multiple people were shot before 11:30 last night. two people taken to the hospital there. then, about an hour later, one man shot on madeira avenue near a halloween

meteorologist vianey arana joins us with a quick look at our microclimate forecast. it doesn't look so nice right now, but it sounds like we have a beautiful day ahead. >> it will feel more like fall, which is good. we were pretty warm to start. we are seeing the cloud cover, though, of course, and especially around the coastline. let's see how our temperatures are out the door. morgan hill 54, san martin 55, san francisco in those 50s, and if you take a look at the 24-hour temperature change, so not a lot of change just yet. you'll notice the cooling a little better into the afternoon, but you will notice some areas of fog. so this gray that you see here is that cloud cover. we're going to get some breaks in the sunshine by the afternoon, and let me just kind of give you an idea of what we're tracking into the next couple of hours. by 11:00, 12:00, comfortable 70s. so we'll be more seasonable, which means more normal for the month of october. and then we have just a couple of changes heading into the week. i'll guide you through that in my full forecast. >>> we begi

meteorologist rob mayeda is in for vianey arana this morning with a look at your microclimate forecast. rob, how is it looking? >> right now, we have a lot of the low clouds around san francisco and some of that into the santa clara valley right now, near san jose. cloudy start to the morning, low 60s outside, in the santa clara valley, and really not going to climb a whole lot today, combined with the sea breeze, the low clouds, high clouds for the afternoon, highs near downtown san jose in the upper 60s to near 70. so moving forward, 60s for most of the bay area, through 8:00 a.m. and look at the temperatures. even past lunchtime, we're hanging on to those mid-to-upper 60s inland, including the north bay valleys for your sunday afternoon, near 70 in livermore. low 70s out towards solano county, and kind of a cool finish to the weekend. coming up, seven-day forecast does have a warming trend and the chance of seeing a few showers, as we approach next weekend. a closer look at that and our forecast coming up in about ten minutes. >> all right. thanks, rob. >>> police say his reign of t

meteorologist vianey arana joins us now this morning with a look at your microclimate forecast. it was cold last night. i found myself reaching for a second blanket. >> oh, yeah. right now, we are already seeing some low 40s up through the north bay, beautiful view of emeryville. if you take a look, there are no clouds in site, but the temperatures right now, especially up through parts of the north bay, when you look at napa, 40 degrees. that's almost in the 30s. we have that cold system that kept our daytime highs cool, but the 24-hour temperature change, really significant, especially up through parts of napa, areas like concord and down through the south bay. now, we will continue to see those winds kicking up today, because of that system. and as we continue to monitor this, this is going to be gusty from the north-northeast. we're going to especially focus on the hills, because we've got a lot of dry brush out there. this will bring evaluated fire danger. >>> and pg&e is moving forward with planned power outages this morning to lower the risk of power outages causing fires

meteorologist vianey arana in for kari with a look at what we can expect. >> calm, cool, collected on this thursday morning then we have a pretty nice afternoon ahead. live look over walnut creek, let's get to your daytime highs. we do still have areas of patchy dense fog, that marine layer is at about 2,400 feet, in through the interior we will get some clearing. livermore and concord yesterday the mid 80s, today we will be in the low 80s. through the south bay even more seasonable, only topping out in the mid 70s for san jose, 74 degrees, palo alto 72 and around the coastline we are going to kick up that sea breeze yet again into the afternoon. we are talking winds 15, 20 plus miles per hour starting up around 2:00, 3:00 p.m. into the overnight evening hours. as you know anytime you are around the coastline you want to wear a sweater because once the winds pick up you also have to factor in that windchill into the overnight hours. i will talk about your air quality and your seven day outlook in a few minutes. first we need to check in with mike with a look at gas prices. >> trying t
