nbc bay area vianey arana is in florida. about 30 minutes ago, we saw people where you were leaving and running away from the beach. what is happening right now? >> reporter: yeah, well actually, we have a quick update. patrol told us they officially closed off the beach. we are seeing the winds starting to pick up and it hasn't rained in the past maybe 20 minutes but spurts of rain is coming down and i think that scared folks off of the water. patrolman are officially kicking everybody off the beach and making sure everybody heads to safety. as we are mentioning, we did get a chance to talk to residents. at a local ups facility in lauder hill. one woman we talked to said her husband has cancer and waiting on a particular part for the generator in case it goes out. she wasn't able to get her package. we were also talking to another gentleman. his family was evacuated and they were also not able to pick up their packages. so a number of frustrated residents who paid extra shipping specifically to have their items delivered be
