joining us is vicky terry. she's executive director of the memphis branch of the naacp. ms.k you so much for being here. i know this is just a really difficult time where there's a lot of demands on your time. >> thank you so much, rachel. i appreciate you having me. >> since the release of the video on friday, we have learned about more suspensions of officers, firings of emts from the fire department, people who didn't render aid even though they were there and capable of doing that i have to ask what's your reaction to these ongoing developments over the past few days? >> well, i'm not surprised because i had heard that there would be more people fired and, you know, or disciplined because of what part they took in not rendering aid or just being there and not doing anything, so i figured that there would be more and i'm thinking there will be even more. there will be discipline or let go, i'm not sure which one they're going to do. >> and thinking about individual people being disciplined as you say or being fired, being charged in some cases, that's an important part of

. >>> vicky terry is the executive director of the memphis naacp. y, thank you so much for being here. i just want to start. i mean are you surprised by the memphis pd's initial accounting of the incident and the fact that it doesn't track at all with what we now can see in the videos? >> i am totally horrified. this is absurd. i was just listening to your other caller's comment and this is my first time hearing the report. so after seeing the video, we all know that this is a lie. the report is falsified, and i don't know who turned it in, but, as he said, you could see them -- it was as if they were trying to get their story straight when they were conversing after, you know, they had beat tyre nichols. >> and i mean weren't body cameras supposed to prevent this sort of thing? i mean these officers should have known everything that happened would have been on tape. >> it seems as if they forgot they had the body cams on, and then the sky cop cam, i think that caught a lot of everything. so one individual, i don't think he had his body cam on, but t

joining us now is vicki terry, the executive director of the city's branch of the naacp.re anticipating the video coming out. it had not come out. you had not seen it. you have since seen the video. what was your reaction to it? >> i was horrified. truly just it brought me to tears. i was just in tears. my stomach was in turmoil, and i just can't imagine what was going through the heads of those officers. >> you talked to us before about changes at the naacp, and quite frankly now i would imagine demanding them, what are those? >> of course they've got to change. they've got to reform, clean house. they've got to do some things differently. some of the things that we are asking them to do as far as police reform, reimagining the police system, those things have got to happen. and we as citizens, and community activists, politicians, everybody in this city needs to be a part of it. we need to take art and make sure those things happen. >> the naacp is supporting the family? >> of course we are. of course. i was with them today in their press conference, and i told the mom,

as you hear from vicky terry here, the executive director of the local naacp.ard, those officers she heard, expected to turn themselves in, 10:00 central time, 11:00 eastern. we'll be here reporting. >> that would be three hours from now. thanks, don. >>> to the latest fallout in virginia after a 6-year-old child shot his teacher. the school board fired the superintendent in a 5 to 1 vote coming the same day the school's assistant principal resigned. the 25-year-old teacher was shot inside her classroom, the bullet went through her hand into her chest. she has been released from the hospital, she's now taking legal action against the school district. she claims on the day of the shooting, administrators disregarded multiple warnings that the child had a gun. >> on that day, over the course of a few hours, three different times, three times school administration was warned by concerned teachers and employees that the boy had a gun on him at the school. and was threatening people. but the administration could not be bothered. this tragedy was entirely preventable
