the death of vincent chin was one of those incidents for me. when i learned about this incident is what caused me to spend more time learning about our civil rights history. when i was in law school, i met when the prosecutors involved in the completely awful travesty of the prosecution. it was part of what inspired me to think about spending part of my career in that world. i want to think sharon hewitt and reverend fong for the work you're doing with activists around the country to help us remember. if we do not remember our history, we are bound to repeat it. hate crimes within any of our communities are hate crimes against all of our communities. i think it is so important that we take a moment to remember, and again, thank you so much for helping us in that effort. >> let me just say that the last words, his last words were, it isn't fair. his mother, who galvanized many of us around the country as she toured many cities, she eventually left the united states and went back to china and said, there is no justice in america. she passed away
